I don't think I would get as many viewers as a show about an angry Australian who solves problems with his fists and vaguely defined anecdotal "research".

This week Aussie Bill is going to solve the 3rd world's hunger crisis. His solution? Make more food.

Well "causation" is great and all but it does not feed starving humans. Hence, feed them first and then figure out the why..

PS Funny of you to focus on me for apparently being angry and wanting to fight but turning a blind eye to the rape and violence carried out by others. Have you ever though that my causation could be you guys?

My friend, a good problem solver you are not. I hope you don't work in construction ;)

When a dam is leaking Pike you block it first and then figure out what you're going to do to fix and improve it; let alone what caused it. You don't sit there and ask the why or pull out the old pipe and ponder, while the water is flooding the next town.

This attitude is why America and even the UK in many aspects has so many violent ghettos because people like yourself don't solve the problem of crime and violence first, but rather are trying to figure out the why first. Basically placing the cart before the horse.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Gene why is it I sense that your fellow country man from Australia has gotten under your British skin today?

?

Just imagine the testimonials:

"Thanks Aussie Bill, we tried that Supernanny ####### but nothing made our Johnny behave more than a good kicking and a threat to burn his hand on the stove"

I think we have a pitch there - Its like Jim'll Fix-It, only with Chopper instead of Jimmy Saville.

Damn straight. The violent kids on her show clearly lack discipline or respect for adults period. They need to be smacked around and taught who is boss and realize they are the low man on the totem pole.

I think that's why she's a successful nanny, and you're... whatever you are ;)

Armchair parenting - priceless.

If you don't know what the cause of the problem is, how do you know what needs fixing?

Now I'm not an engineer, but that seems like an elementary question to me.

She solves the problem and then asks the why.

However, I recall hearing that a Britt kid on the show did burn down their house.

Pike is just not logical. He want to ask the why before dealing with the problem.

Much in the same way these guys claim we are not helping the urban poor get an education but fail to answer how these kids are supposed to go to school in neighborhoods where people are shot and victims of violence daily. Whereas, I would say get the streets safe first, so the kids can get to school and not have to worry about being a victim of violence; then worry about educating them.

You need to get control of the situation before worrying about the cause or how to fix it.

If a plane has malfunctioned and about to crash, the pilots number one responsibility would be to land the plane safely. Not to ponder what caused the problem or how to fix it. That comes after landing the plane safely.

How would you go about fixing a car, BY.

Do you just show up and the problem magically presents itself?

So what if your engine blows up in a remote area. Do you sit there and ponder why and how this happened? Or do you get to safety and then worry about these things the next day, after the car is towed?

Yes I expect pilots of crashing planes follow the exact same set of procedures regardless of whether an engine is on fire, whether the cabin is punctured, whether the landing gear is broken or whether the flight computer has crashed.

That makes a kind of sense that only you could come up with, BY

I'm asking you point blank - if you are presented with a broken piece of machinery, how do you go about fixing it?

I guess one of the things you totally wouldn't do is determine whether or not the car can be repaired before you set off on a 50 mile trek through the desert with a half gallon of water and no cell reception.

Kids being shot on the street in broad daylight are no machine. Much like the car breaking down, it's a problem that has to be dealt with then and there. It's not surprising that someone who lives in a safe or decent area would sit there and ignore the immense obstacles faced by those living in the ghetto. You guys have mentioned the why and causation now for 4 years but are yet, not even once, to give a real world solution in solving the problem. When pressed, you just resort back to the you don't know the why. 40 years latter and the US is still asking the why, while people are shot daily in ghettos. Same way the UK now also has a growing problem with urban ghetto but your solution to this all is to ask the why.

How about enforcing the law and allowing people to live in a safe environment? How about getting the key offenders off the streets and into prison first? How about using technology to setup surveillance to monitor criminal activity? Then worrying about the why. Someone poor has enough to worry about as it is, enough on their shoulders, and certainly does not need to be worrying about being shot or whether they're going to make it home or through the night; without being shot. Or worrying whether their kids are going to be randomly shot in a gang initiation / turf war drive-by.

To the contrary, I am not surprised the warped legacy OT brain just does not get that. You guys have no clue. If an operator's arm was stuck in a machine, would you save his arm or figure out why it happened and how to fix the machine? to prevent it from happening again.

You're referring to "WHAT" is broken Pike. Not, "WHY"

"Why is" - The part came from China and is defective.... the part was underdesigned..... All things that are not the responsibility of the mechanic.

We know what is broken and it needs replaced. The WHY does always come later.

Yes because it's so hard to fathom that someone tall is better at basketball than someone short. Or that someone fat will run slower than someone fit. Someone muscular will be much more likely to lift heavier objects than someone who is not. Smaller lighter individuals are better at being jockeys than 7 foot built individuals. As someone who believes in evolution, why do you think certain people, certain races have different physical characteristics? Why do you think people in the Northern hemisphere have much lighter skin than those in hot desert countries? Since hey we're all the same after all.

Of course - which is why blacks are better at sports.
