The problem here is people try and give you answer however again as they are not the answers you seek you take the thread in the wrong direction. All you have to do is choose the answer you want ( if you have found what you are looking for ) and go from there. Do not try to be snide as it is not working.........

Why is it that the only one who can stop the crying is the one who started it in the first place?

it was being sarcastic.

I know and also a bit uppity.

can u blame me? i come to find there is like 30 posts, yet some were rude about what i asked as if it was a joke. it was a serious question by the way...

No, I don't blame you. Bad VJers...all of them! :bonk:

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

A perfume box is not useful evidence, neither is a c****m, unless is contains DNA from both parties which can be dated to a certain time period, something that would have to be verified by a forensic expert.

As much as I understand to keep this forum clean and free of inappropriate postings, I think we all need to lighten up a little. Making in inappropriate posting is not good, but posting that it was inappropriate doesn't contribute to helping an OP either as both are inappropriate postings.

So if you are only posting to post that somebody else posted something you think they shouldn't have posted, don't post it.

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Another 4 pages of ego clashing and sniping culminating in a complete waste of time reading! what is this forum coming to? Can't people just answer the damn question or shut up?

I wouldn't bother with the perfume box, though receipts/photographs/letter's/b-day cards etc would be a better way to go :)

Good luck!

Nice post, obbynox.

For those who feel that this particular forum - those who are in need of waivers or have been placed in extra administrative processing - is the place to joke around or to make non-helpful comments, please re-evaluate your positions. The posted comment about sending in a condom was unhelpful and trite. It did not state the posters position that the evidence in question - a perfume box - would not be helpful. Instead, it was flippant and trivialized the OP's question. The OP is in need of additional evidence to prove the relationship with her husband - a very real consideration. She doesn't have a lot of material available and was asking if a box with information written on it by her husband and containing a gift given to her would be of any use. Some of the respondents, like the above, have chosen to answer the question - which provides useful information for the OP. Others seem to see that this is an opportunity to joke around at the OP's expense. That is why the moderator first posted a warning. The post in question was made not for the sake of the OP but because the poster thought it would be cute to be smart-alecky. There is a time and place for humour - but that post was not humourous and it was not helpful. So, if you can provide a useful response for the OPs question, please do so, otherwise do not post.

How about a condom?

Haole, your comment is not helpful, if you have nothing constructive to add then please dont post.

Be careful making judgements about what is or is not constructive. Just because you don't "get it" you deem it as nothing constructive and run around deleting posts and tossing about warnings. I see the comment as allowing the OP an opportunity to realize the parallel of the two objects and deduce that it is just as unproductive to send in a perfume box.

I will add that Haole's comment is more appropriate to Off Topic and is not acceptable in the Upper Forums. TayRivers has issued only a warning - a 4 hour suspension as per Captain Ewok's instructions earlier this year, could also have been issued. The comment was out of line, and your public objection to a moderator ensuring that offf topic comments in an inappropriate location are addressed is also inappropriate.

perhaps it was helpful but definitely a tad amusing.

to the OP, hope you can put together enough stuff....i am afraid i may be in your situation soon enough.

Is this the new standard? If it is, I'd like to get busy with the Report button :)

Oh and this is just me being curious, I wouldn't dare question your authoritah.

I've been here since october and I have only just seen the report button. Given my obvious lack of observation skills, I will just repeat what others have said with regard to tangable and traditional evidence such as photo's, plane stubs, passport stamps, Snail mail letters and old and more recent emails.

Good Luck FJ.

In my opinion the fact that the mods made such a big deal of one post - which they were trying to prevent going in the wrong direction and could have waited a little to see if it did - then another came in to defend the first one is what derailed this thread in the first place.

Perhaps if the wording in the initial post wasn't so condescending, along with this one, people would understand and comply.

*edit to add* Just to stay on topic too, no you can't use the perfume box.

Keep the perfume box as your personal memento.

But when you will be choosing pics, try to have a variety showing different times, different settings, and also with family members (Christmas, gatherings, weddings, etc.) Showing you've been together for more than a sample snapshot helps. When we were asked for extra proofs, we picked out postcards (date stamp, addresses) and e-mails that proved the build-up of the relationship. I wished I had kept our old phone bills, nothing screams long distance relationship like a $900 phone bill! I also put in plane tickets where we visited each other. If you keep a paper trail you'll have no trouble proving your relationship.

Good luck! And honestly, like any will tell you if you are truly in a bona fide relationship everything will be ok in the end. Oh, and ignore some of the questionable messages you'll see here, they are the minority!

Free Jerusalem,

I have read several of your posts regarding your interview experience and as I recall you had issues with your domicile stating that you currently reside with your husband. I also read that you only had cell phone photos of your wedding and were not adequately prepared for your interview to which several VJ'rs responded about things to bring. During your post "desparate" you were also advised on how to establish domicile with a lease from your parents and opening a bank account on-line.

My point is that if you have been living with your husband and fear having to leave him alone and return before him, how is it that you have a plane ticket (as you stated earlier) showing your return from visiting last year? I am confused, do you live over there with him or in the US? If you live in the US then you have no domicile issues???

I don't mean to doubt anyones posting intentions, however I also believe that it is not fair to all those VJrs trying to offer advice to be led around in circles responding to condradicting questions.

To summize your OP;

1. If you can prove that the gift came from him, send the receipt or card that came with it, otherwise it does not prove relationship

2. If you live over with him and do not wish to return without him as in your previous posts, you should have SOME photos, if not TAKE some together and with family

3. If you live in the US as you said in this thread, then start making copies of e-mails, phone records, phone cards, anything you got AND open a bank account and sign a lease with your mother, dont bother with gifts that you cannot prove came from him, they are nice but not useful.

4. Regardless of where you actually live, this time when you go to the interview, bring proof other than cell phone photos and 2 photos in your wallet.

I wish you the best of luck

My guess,

That the perfume was received in the US before the trip to the west bank and the OP took it with her and is still there.

Sounds like the OP has much bigger issues than a bottle of perfume, including a deliberately contentious screen name, perhaps something the Mods could look at.
