That is really messed up! Maybe you could go the extra mile and make an InfoPass appointment. I don't by the "you don't have a birthdate" explanation from the USCIS hotline. I would think the case number should be all they really need to know. Seems like they really could be more helpful. I guess at very least you could check the box requesting a later interview date, and attach a short letter explaining the wrong address and your call to USCIS.....this might buy the person a little time to inquire about their case.
