The update system is not accurate. Really.

It could be anything, from simply forgetting to check a box or not including a copy of your passport with entry/exit stamp showing proof of meeting. You will just have to wait until you get a hard copy. Hopefully, it will be something very simple and once you submit what they want you will get approved shortly. Don't worry I am sure you will get the hardcopy shortly.

I am not holding my breath but I can check and see if my petition has been finaly updated to approved after nearly a year and a half.

The updates could be delayed entries or someone could be handling your case for another reason, a background check got returned, they made another copy, etc.

Gary, since you know someone who works at the VSC, it would be helpful to know in general how information gets into the online CRIS system. Is there a physical network connection between the internal USCIS computers and the CRIS computers? Do they run an automated "job" periodically that scans the USCIS computers for relevant information, and updates the CRIS computers accordingly? Does a data entry clerk manually enter the data into the CRIS system? I realize that their precise data management policies are probably confidential, but having a rough idea how the process works would help to explain how some people seem to get reliable and timely information from the CRIS system, and other people fall through the cracks.

You and others have said that the CRIS system is basically useless and unreliable, and I'm curious whether this is generally true, or if cases like yours are relatively unusual. In my case, CRIS reported both my NOA1 and NOA2 in a timely manner.
