i meant to post this in this forum, but apparently i posted it in the regional one by accident, so im moving it here. Sorry for the redundancy! here are my questions and i truly appreciate all the help you can give me. My fiance and i are completely ECSTATIC to finally be starting the process =) God bless.

1. are the income requirements (K1 VISA) for the manila embassy based on the 100 or 125% guideline? and are those guidelines based on gross or net income?

2. For the last 6 years i've been a student. Due to that, i only held part time positions at various jobs. I even studied abroad in the Philippines for a year. In turn, all my past tax returns show less than the required income for a fiance visa. However now, upon returning, I recently (3 months ago) started a new position which should allow me to meet the minimum requirements after one fiscal year. Will this affect my my affidavit of support? My paystubs WILL indeed show that i meet the income requirements eventually within the year, just maybe not by the time my fiance goes to her interview. Any opinions on that would be great!

3. My fiance also has one 2 year old son. She wasn't previously married. Our plan is to immigrate her first, get married, work together and save, then within 1 year apply for her son to follow (k2 visa). My question is when SHE goes to the interview, do i have to have the income to support all THREE of us? or just HER and I for the time being since her son will be following at a later date? i know i can meet the requirement for THREE people once my fiance arrives and starts working, but im just a little bit unsure at the moment if i can before then.

4. Although im pretty confident in meeting the income requirements, i'd still like a clear cut answer as to whether or not co-sponsors will be allowed. i've heard things from them allowing it, needing special circumstances (if so, what are they), and them not accepting one at all. Which is it? IF i had to use one, it would probably be one of my best friends? would that work?

looking forward to sharing my journey with you guys! i know i have a lot of questions but thanks again for your responses!!

1. Basically 125% unless you are US military. It is based on gross. Before tax income

2. If you started a new job today at $5,000 per year your income is $45000 per year. You do dnot have to wait a year. Just verify what it is with recent check stubs and employment letter. Current ncome ismore important than past income.

3. You must qualify for all applicants. If the child is not applying with your fiancee then you do not have to qualify for the child at the time the fiancee applies. when the child DOES come, you will have to qualify for all three.

4. All things I have heard about Manilla is they allow co-sponsors for K-1s IF it is a family member. Someone else can answer that better than me, I am going by what I have read here.

US Embassy and Consulate Discussion

You are almost there and now you have to deal with the embassy. This is the place to post your experiences or questions related to this last step before moving to the US. Topics relating to I-134's, packets sent from consulate and medical & police certificates should be posted here.

YMMV
