I-134 - Changed jobs

Hey guys.

My question is regarding a change of employment... my fiancee (petitioner) has recently changed employment and taken up working for her sister as her nanny. My fiancee is payed every two weeks by check. Now, she takes out 15% of that money and puts it aside for when she has to file taxes (I don't quite understand the process over there for this, but she's going to be paying taxes and doing it all legally).

So for the I-134 form how would this be shown? She won't be able to show pay stubs or get a letter on work stationary since there is none. The previous job she still does one day a week, so she can show details of that job alright, but our main concern is showing details of her new job.

She will need to get a letter from her sister stating amount paid, etc. The tax man isn't monitoring this process so she needn't worry about anything there.

Do you need to also provide pay slips, letter from the bank, letter from employer etc if you make over the poverty line?

The old version required notarization. The current version (in use since 2008) does not. The current version can be downloaded from http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-134.pdf.

Remember, the standard you have to meet is not "the poverty line," but 125% of current federal poverty guidelines based on the sponsor's household size (including the intending immigrant). The guidelines are available at http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864P.pdf. The right column, in bold type, shows the levels you have to meet. The only exception to this is if your US citizen fiance is serving in the military, in which case 100% rather than 125% of the poverty guidelines applies.

If your salary is comfortably over the guidelines (not just barely), then income evidence is enough. Remember, you need to show current income, so pay stubs and a letter of employment (if available) are a very good idea. Information on bank accounts (including a bank letter) and other assets is only necessary if you need to use them to meet the requirements.

It can differ at some consulates. I know the one in Sydney requires you to meet 100% of the guideline, then 125% later when adjusting.

Thank you for this information so basically if we are a household of two people we need to ensure we meet the $18,212 threshold?

I am going to try and obtain all this information ahead of time so that I am ready once we get the NOA2.
