crazy signature question

Hello, everyone great forum

I am currently getting all the information together for the K-1. I had hoped to send it out this week but,

My question, I sent the forms to my fiance in Colombia with the e-mail, she printed them and sent everything back no problems. I noticed she printed her signature in english, on all the forms including the letter of intent, she says thats how she signs her name. So now I have no idea what to do.

I have a feeling this is not going to be a good thing with the first person that looks at the packet.

open for many suggestions at this point.

a signature is a signature. My wife's signature is completely unintelligible in ANY language or alphabet and it is perfectly acceptable to USCIS, the consulates, the DMV, and the mortgage company. It is HER signature. It does NOT look like her printed name (or anyones printed name)

If that is how she signs her name (and you just found this out now?) then that is how she signs it. No problem.

Sorry, I should have said she did not sign her name in what I would call a normal signature we normally see in the US.

She hand printed her name in english. I just thought it might be a red flag.

Sorry, I should have said she did not sign her name in what I would call a normal signature we normally see in the US.

It's not. Cursive writing is becoming a lost skill and certainly is seldom taught anywhere English isn't the primary language. My wife signed in Chinese until after she arrived. A signature is a signature and need not be legible.

i think if that is how she really makes her signature then that will be fine, it's not like she has some other signature but just decided to change it for the forms so i think you will be fine

my signature is actually sort of just curved lines lol that no one can make out it was fine with the USCIS the key there is consistency i do want to change that though with something easier like initials or just my name.. a lot of people in PI have just curved lines or somethign doodled as a signature lol

I hate to admit it but, I never really looked at the signature before now, I was concerned with all the other details being correct . I want to thank you now for all the information you have provided to so many other people. I have used yours and everyones post's to gain much needed information for this process.

I also have listed her 6yo son on the form and we intend on bringing him with us when she has the visa. Have you got any advice for this situation? Maybe some do's and don'ts for the process? I have been reading about it on VJ. thanks for your time and knowledge.

I'm interested in knowing what you mean when you say "in English." Spanish uses the same alphabet that English does, with the exception of things like the ñ. Why would her name look any different in English than it does in Spanish?

I was thinking the exact same thing. Or French, or Italian, or German, any language that uses the Latin alphabet would pretty much look the same if printed.

She may require a notorized letter from the biological father, or a court order indicating he is allowing the child to immigrate to the U.S.

About the child , she has the paper from the father , so leaving the country should not be a problem, or so I am told. LOL It seems everything starts out smooth and then things always get rocky for a while .

to all the responses to this issue. This was also discussed over here very recently with the same answers.

About the letter from the father, just to be sure you are covered. The letter MUST be notarized. The letter MUST specifically state she has permission to relocate the child PERMANENTLY to the UNITED STATES, those two words are very crucial. And she must also have a copy of his photo and signature page from his passport OR other government ID. Kiev, at least, put no "date" on how recent the letter had to be (logically saying "it is permanent") though I have no idea if Colombia requires it to be more recent. The consulate can advise.

If the child has been listed on the I-129f and you have the ltter already, there is nothing more to do until the interview when you will present a visa application for the child as well. The child will need a medical exam, pay the visa fee and present all the same forms and documents (translated) as your fiancee (except ds-156k) It is "k-1 squared!"
