I would recommend Skype too. I used it a lot the last few months to call from Belgium to my fiancee (she's the USC), and I always called to her cellphone.

They charged me a measly €0,02 per minute for that. Can't beat those costs.

I just checked the charges, and making a Skypecall to Germany costs you €0,02 ($0,024) per minute to landlines, and €0,23 ($0,283) per minute to cellphones.

If I'm not mistaken they even have monthly subscriptions that allow you to make unlimited calls to landlines in certain countries.

Good luck,

Hi,

Freecall.com

You don't have any fee to pay when the ''recipient'' receive his call. You can call for free for some destinations (germany is included) but I don't remember if it's for 3 months or less.

''Max 300 minutes per week of free calls, measured over the last 7 days and per unique IP address. Unused free minutes cannot be taken to the following week(s). If limit is exceeded the normal rates apply. With your FREE DAYS you can call for free to all the destinations listed as free! when you have no FREE DAYS left the normal rates apply. You can get extra Freedays by buying credit''--- From their website.

cell phone=0.13 euro by min

the normal rate for France is 0.01 euro by minutes so maybe it's the same for Germany for the landline.

Here is the website:

http://www.freecall.com/en/index.html

But it seems me that they take the payment in euro.

Also try www.peterzahlt.de You ring the landline in Germany first and they listen to a couple seconds of ads before you are put through, but you can speak for 30 minutes at a time for free.

I just wanted to add another option to the thread. My wife use Google Voice to call Germany for cheap and it allows her to use a normal phone instead of a computer. Here are the rates (from http://www.google.com/support/voice/bin/an...swer=141925#G):

Germany $0.02

Germany - Civil Service $0.42

Germany - Mobile $0.23

Germany - Mobile - Eplus $0.17

Germany - Mobile - O2 $0.17

Germany - Mobile - T-Mobile $0.17

Germany - Mobile - Vodafone $0.17
