hello thanks in advance for any help.

I am rather confused I got my letter in yesterday from the american embassy stating the documents a need for my interview. the only document am unsure if a need to get is the evidence of support my fiance over in the states has already gone through the process of proving that he can financially support me until I get into employement so am I still required to show evidence of my own funds and bank statements from the previous 12months? do I need a photocopy on his side to prove he can support me? or does this not apply to me?

My guess is that you have received packet 3 or packet 4 in the mail from the embassy. Please provide more info so I don't have to guess.

What process has he gone through to show he can support you once you get to the U.S.? I suspect you are confused. He will have to fill out an I-134 to prove he makes enough money to support you along with supporting documents.

Take a look at the guides on this site. They are very helpful and should answer any typical questions you have about the K1 process.

He needs to send you his I-134.

so if a get his I-134 thats all a need for evidence of support? a do not require to show my own funds

At minimum, you need an I-134 Affidavit of Support from your US citizen fiance that demonstrates income and/or assets that exceed 125% of the federal poverty guidelines for his household size (including you).

If your fiance's income and/or assets do not exceed this threshold, he will need to secure a co-sponsor (presuming your consulate allows them) who does have sufficient income and/or assets. The co-sponsor's income/assets cannot be combined with your fiance's to meet the requirements. You need one sponsor who can meet the requirements on his/her own.

Most consulates will not consider the intending immigrant's assets in making the public charge determination—and even if they do, you'll almost always need an I-134 from the US citizen fiance anyway.

It would help us if we knew which consulate you'll be dealing with. For that reason, as well as to assist other users with projected approval times, :time: -> http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/intro.php

so if a get his I-134 thats all a need for evidence of support? a do not require to show my own funds

Your funds do not matter; only the USC's income. He will need to send you tax returns or tax transcripts, the past three years is best, and maybe a letter from his employer. It's all up in the Guides at the top of the page. Read on.

For the I-134, most consulates are only interested in the most recent year's tax return/transcript.

Also, the most important thing to demonstrate at the consulate is current, sustained income. The tax return helps with the "sustained" part, but in order to demonstrate current income, pay stubs (provide the last six months' worth if possible) and letter of employment (if he can get one) should be sent as well.

who approved the I-134? the I-134 should be presented at the interview. If he mistakenly sent it with the petition and the peition was approved, this means nothing except he made an error. The I-134 is not required for the petition for a K-1. Have him update the I-134 with current information and send it to you again.

he will need to do another affidavit after you arrive and you are married. It has nothing to do with "supporting you until you can work", he will be contracturally obligated to support you for 10 years, or until you become a citizen, whether you work or not.
