I know an Irish Sinead here in LA and she doesn't have too many problems, it seems. Here friend Saoirse is not so lucky. I grew up with a girl called Siobhan and she was always correcting people.

I have a Siobhan and a Caoimhín in my family. They both get butchered to hell.

I have a friend with the name Saoirse. She is currently in the process of changing her name to Shannon. She got tired of all the accusations of jabs that she was a fenian back home in N. Ireland.
