Which would be best: for me to buy a ticket from him from here (say from cheaptickets.com) or for him to buy a ticket from his country?

I really can't decide what to do and what is best. Please give me some adivce on what you think is best.

Don't buy any ticket until you have the visa in hand! Buy either a round-trip ticket, or a one way ticket, whatever is cheaper. You can buy a ticket from wherever you want.

We actually do have the visa in hand, got it on Friday!!! YAY!! But now just the stress of trying to find the best way to buy a ticket. So you don't think that it would be a problem for me to buy a ticket for him through cheaptickets?

www.bt-store.com is a better option, in my opinion. Better as in cheaper of course. Just bought my ticket there not long ago for my 2nd visit.

Yes, it may be a problem. Most airlines now sell "e-tickets", meaning you get a number rather than a physical ticket, and check in using only your ID or passport. Some airlines require you to present the physical credit card used to purchase the ticket at check in. It would be impossible for him to present your credit card at the check in counter in his country. Check with the airline and make sure he'll be able to check in before purchasing the ticket.
