12yr old boy to undergo sex change operation

A 12-year-old boy from England, who showed up to school as a girl, is believed to be the youngest person in the country preparing to undergo a sex change operation.

The boy, whose parents have legally changed his name to a girl's, arrived to school in a dress with long hair.

Teachers called an emergency assembly to order fellow students to treat him as female, but angry parents said that was not enough.

They said the school should have informed them in advance so they could have prepared their children for the news.

"Maybe we could have explained sexual politics and encouraged our kids to be more sensitive if we'd had a chance to be involved," one mother said.

The 12-year-old is preparing to undergo hormone treatment and surgery — and could become the world's youngest patient to have a sex change in the coming years.

The Sun knows his identity but will not reveal it, in order to protect the child's privacy.

"We are committed to ensuring the very best for our child," the boy’s mother told the newspaper Thursday night. "We are working with other agencies to ensure our child's welfare is protected."

The 1,000-student school, in southern England, has given the boy a separate bathroom and changing room.

Earlier this year, Kim Petras from Cologne, Germany, who was born Tim, became the world’s youngest person to undergo sexual reassignment surgery. She had the operation just days after turning 16.

I agree.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

That's almost like telling your son "We wanted a girl, so now you're going to become one" sort of thing.

Those parents are ridiculous.

This is a bit extreme, but I'm not too surprised. Teenage girls are getting lipo-suction, breast implants, and other cosmetic surgery that will have life long effects.

I don't even think children should be allowed pierced ear-rings until they've reached the age of consent. At 12 years old, there's very little chance that the child even knows who they are, let alone who/what they want to be. Sure, some people reach a level of maturity earlier, but not at 12 years of age. If a 12 year old says he wants to be an astronaut, do you pack up the family and move closer to Cape Canaveral ? No...because you know that there's a good chance that by the time they reach 16, 18, 21 or 24, they could change their mind. There's a very good reason most states don't allow children to enter into contracts, sit on a jury or vote. Letting a 12 year old decide that they want to physically alter their body sounds pretty crazy to me.

Well, I am just glad the child has parents that rather see him happy with the gender of his inner being, than make crass bullsh1t comments about her being a freak of nature and force him to remain male.

Gender reassignment in the UK is I believe a 3 year process; with a lot of professional psychiatric evaluation. It's not something done overnight. FFS.

Some babies are born 100% male, others 100% female, but also others that lie somewhere between the extremes of these two. Least they can do something about this today. Unfortunately, some babies are born with major physical or mental handicaps, or with a life threatening disease or condition they can't do anything about, least not yet. Maybe someday.
