Hello everyone,

The last time I posted a topic was when we went to our I-485 interview at Garden City on August 12, 2009. Our IO had said she recommended us for approval and we would receive communication in two weeks. Well fast forward 2 weeks, and we received a letter from USCIS saying that the name on my birth certificate was different than the name on my application. Because of this, we were given a new date of September 17th 2009 to return with our evidence on rectifying the situation.

The thing is, my birth certificate has my religious name first, my given name second and then my last name. However on every other form, I go by my given name first, then my religious name then my last name. I was given 3 options on how to correct this, and chose to go to the Nigerian consulate to have a deed poll (affidavit) written and signed, stating that I am the same person and that I want to formally be referred to as my given name first, religious name second and then last name.

We went back to Garden City for an 8:30am appointment on September 17, 2009 and at about 9:30am, our IO came into the waiting area, and asked to see the original copy of the evidence as we had sent in a copy of the evidence prior to coming to the appointment. She then said, she was satisfied, and asked for my passport and said we should wait downstairs to have my passport stamped.

At 11:00am we finally left the immigration office with the I-1551 stamp in my passport and should be receiving my green card in the mail in 30 days or less...

I wish everyone who is still going through their process all the very best, and to continue to keep the faith...

No USCIS for another 2 years...to remove conditions...

Ciao....

CONGRATULATIONS!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Congratulations! Unfortunately my experience at the Garden City Field Office isn't worth a mention at the moment. Been more than two months since my interview and I have not heard from them regarding any decision. Despite an infopass, a Service Request, I am still waiting to hear from them. Have another infopass scheduled tomorrow. Know the end result already, but I must keep on knocking doors. But any good news from friends here renews my hopes.

Wish you a happy life ahead.

Saspak...I was actually thinking about you when I went for the appointment last week, and wondering if you had heard anything from them yet. I wish you all the best tomorrow, at your Infopass, and hope that at least they have some kind of update for you, so that you are not left wondering where you stand. Please keep the faith, as I know something good is bound to happen...

Thank you for your congratulations and I will continue praying for you....Have a good night!!!

Congratulations.

Thank you MrsJibowu...the journey is over for the next 2 years or less...have a good night...
