During one of her daily classes, a teacher trying to

teach good manners, asked her students the following question:

"Robert, if you were on a date having dinner with a nice young lady, how would you tell her

that you have to go to the bathroom?"

Robert said, "Just a minute I have to go pee."

The teacher responded by saying, "That would be rude and impolite.

What about you Sherman, how would you say it?"

Sherman said, "I am sorry, but I really need to go to the

bathroom. I'll be right back."

"That's better, but it's still not very nice to say the word

bathroom at the dinner table. And you, little Brian, can you use your brain for

once and show us your good manners?

Yes, said Brian; I would say: "Darling, may I please be

excused for a moment? I have to shake hands with a very dear friend of mine,

whom I hope to introduce you to after dinner."

The teacher fainted...

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

This story happened in 1963.

Nowadays the answers would have been something like "I wud say I hav 2 P" and if there was any mention of shakin' hands with "dear friends" the teacher would keep the boy after school to do just that and video it with her cell phone and post it on the web!

This story happened in 1963.

I never heard of it in 1963.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.
