Can someone who is adjusting status or idk waiting for interview for GC and has been working on a EAD claim unemployment insurance in california?

ps. this is not me, it's one of my husbands co-workers/friend, he said he does not really know if he has an EAD I'm more sure he does, otherwise he wouldnt be working.... anyway he got laid off hence the unemployment question

If he has been working at a job where he was making contributions to the fund for long enough he can get benefits from it. If he has only been working a short time and for low pay he won't be getting much money. Ca unemployment insurance site

When an alien files a claim for unemployment, he has to prove he is legally authorized to work in the US. That means having an Employment Authorization Document, a Greencard, or a US drivers license and an unrestricted US Social Security number.
