That's still a pretty general statement. What specific advanced settings for your network adapter can't you change on a Mac?

I have used both systems side buy side and the Vista system is much more customizable. There is nothing else to it. Apple systems are clearly for a certain type of user who has certian requirements such as web browsing, video editing etc. That is its forte.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

I'm not trying to convince you. I just want to know WHAT network adapter preference are you unable to customize on an Apple that you can on other PCs.

Ha, been awhile since I heard a which is gooder, a PC or a Mac debate. If you can call it a debate, normally ends up in name calling. Guess whatever turns you on should be your choice.

Ya.. makes me groan every time... The best one is the one you like the best.

The Mac/PC commercials are funny though..

Have a look at the advanced adapter settings on any Vista machine and the try find the equivalent setting on a mac. Transmit buffers etc

We could even expand this to the iphone vs my windows mobile, where I have totally tweaked the registry. I am sure you have to wait for an app for that.

The whole premise of the mac is lock-down of the operating environment and hardware; as apple sees fit.

OS 9, is that the "Tiger" OS? If so, you can upgrade it to snow leopard for $30 bucks. Check it out!

OS 9 (Known as "Classic") came before all the animal names were added and the Unux (NeXT) based system that is known as OS X.

Plus the latest incarnation of OS X (Snow Leopard) only runs on Intel based computers. Prior to switching to Intel, Macs were based on Motorola's PowerPC chip.

Yes, very good points. For the few that have Tiger running on an Intel based machine, they can sneak in a Snow Leopard upgrade for $30 bucks. Just a small loophole that only applies to a few users.

On another note. At the local schools here, county wide, all they buy is Apple computers. Why, one parent asked? Because, these days elementary school students, all they use are Apple computers at home!

Maybe Steve Jobs had a Chinese like vision regarding a 20 year plan to change a generation's thinking and behavior.

Computer Joke: Did you hear the one about the starving computer genius? He hadn't had a byte in weeks!

Cheers.

The imaginary one that you won't post pics of?

And if you should choose to post a picture of it, please ensure that you include a note in the picture saying "FU America and Spooky", that way we can be assured that is in fact a photo you took and not one you scammed off the internet somewhere.

:P

I had a look at the newegg receipt but it has too many details on it. Considering the only thing I know about spooky is that he is from Boston, is married to someone from Brazil, and has this huge paranoia about his own privacy, yeah not going to happen.

What would you like to know?

Took a break from EP hey. I thought you hated the mods here and apparently didn't care for VJ or its information.

That's a lose lose scenario. So we'll leave it at that.

Here's my setup:

Intel Core i7 920 - OC'd to 3.8 Ghz - about $200

Thermaltake CL-W0121 Water Cooling System - I think this one is $200

Asus Rampage II Extreme - Forgot the price, know it's like over $200

G.Skill Trident DDR3 6GB Memory - Triple Channel - $194

MSI Geforce GTX 295 2GB, 448-bit x 2 - About $500

XCLIO 2000 Black &Ttitanium Case - Forgot the price

CoolerMaster 1250 Watt Power Supply - Forgot the price

nVidia Tesla c1060 Super Computer (PCI Express Card) - 1,400

To me, I'm not a brand specific guy. I look at specification more so than the brand. AMD Opterons has like 6 cores per CPU block. I said to myself, I would rather make a system that can be for the most of my money (aka overclocking).

In the past AMD was the OC king. Now it's the intel. And, Intel i7 is faster than the AMD systems. Not only that, their transistor sizes are 32nm now. This is a few generations further than AMD. And, they consume less energy than the AMD due to the transistor sizes.

Thanks for posting the rest of your set up. What a screamer. Do you frequent ocforums? How about a sound card?

I know that just about all mb's have built in sound, I was wondering if he was using that or a separate card.
