We were married in July 2007 (in the US), moved to Japan, and did a DCF. The immigration visa was issued in Tokyo in early July 2007; since we were a few days short of being married for two years at that point, it was a CR1 visa. My wife entered through San Fran in August 2009, after we had been married for over two years, and at the airport they stamped her visa and wrote in "IR1." So we assumed there would be no restrictions.

Well, we just got the Permanent Resident Card and it expires in August 2011. Nothing on the form or the card itself indicates what kind of visa she has. If they properly filed her as an IR1, without restrictions, shouldn't she have received a 10-year card? Or did they screw it up? If so, what should we do now? We deliberately timed it so that we wouldn't have to go through the lifting of restrictions ordeal, so I hope there's an easier way out of this ...

Thank you!

This seems to happen a lot for Japanese filers.

I assume her GC was processed based on her visa (CR1)

Anyways, you can file I-90 for replacement of GC.

yes, file the I-90 and cite USCIS Administrative error as your reason and you won't have to pay the filing fee
