Linh passed the written exam this morning and now has her Esthetician License.:dance:

She really worked hard to learn the scientific and technical terms needed. (I also know far more that I ever thought that I would about skin science) Her salon will begin offering the spa services next month and now she can be one of those who will be working with those clients.

I am really impressed with how she has approached the challenges of getting what she wants since arriving in April 07. Driver's License, English classes, Manicurist License, and now the Esthetician License.

Now I have to plan something good to cook for dinner. Or maybe make reservations at a good restaurant.

Just wanted to share something fun and positive with everyone on this Saturday morning.

That is great. It is always good to see someone try hard and get what they work for. I do not know if going out to eat would be as nice as you just preparing a great meal. Candle light you and her alone at home and all she has to do is sit back and enjoy your meal. mmmm mmmmm What every you choose have a great night and congrats again!

Congrats to AM & Linh.

My Japanese ex was a licensed NY State beautician when we met but didn't work at that while keeping her license updated while she raised the kids.

During the divorce she was employed (not in the beauty industry), but insisted on spending $10,000 for an "Esthetician academy."

She completed that and also got her certificate.

Before she went there I had looked up the US Govt. Department of Labor on job openings for that category in her area and they were very grim.

I suggested something like chef's school (restaurants are less of a luxury item than skin care treatments) because she is a great cook but she would

have none of that.

As of roughly 2 years since she completed this course she hasn't been able to find a job (no reflection on her, she just lives too far from NY City) in her newly qualified area.

She is still working at her current job and has been promoted to manager.

Better than having the certificate is having a job to use it for

That's the critical news in these difficult economic times.

May her clients multiply like Jay Leno's car collection.
