Hi everyone,

My fiance and I are preparing all of the things we need for his Interview this coming November 4, at the Casablanca, Morocco Consulate. He just recieved his "packet 3/4" yesterday, and to my surprise they included on the list of requirments an original birth certificate from "both persons named in petition", meaning myself and him...meaning I have to SEND my only ORIGINAL birth certificate accross seas to a country where postal service is not exactly Reliable... My question is, has anyone else been asked for an ORIGINAL birth certificate from the petitioner for the fiance's interview, or is this like some extra precaution they are taking..??

All comments are much appreciated,

Thanks

If they say to send it, I would. Also include a copy of it. They will want to see both and they will keep the copy and return the original. You can get additional "original" birth certificates. I have several of them and obtained them from the county records department at $5 each. Often you will be charged something like $15 for the first one and $5 for additional ones, or something like that. It is not terribly expensive to have several.

For out interview I took a copy of anyhting I ever sent, the entire I-129f package. As long as you are sending things it is better safe than sorry

Use FedEX/UPS/DHL to send documents rather than the mail.

Originals or certified copies are normally required. Submit a photocopy and have the original/certified available for inspection.
