hello all,

i'm a first time poster and have been reading alot about these forums, i love this website!

i have a question: i'm considering marrying my non-US citizen bride, but whereas her GS-2019 says she is subject to the two year rule, her visa in her passport says otherwise. does anyone know why this is? which is the correct one?

As per the US Dept of State website, it says: "Questions regarding your exchange program should be directed to your program sponsor." What does her passport say? I do believe that if she is on a Student Visa and you marry before it expires, the two of you would apply to change status only. I am hoping that someone else jumps in knowing more about Student Visas and going thru the process. Good luck!

jen,

thanks so much for your answer. the point is the VISA says two year does not apply, whereas the preliminary form does. so we have to appeal to the advisory board, which is making us really anxious!!

anyone else want to help with student visas?
