Just popping in to let MsTee know that she and her sweetie are in my prayers! Remember, God is in control!

look at mi ticker!! mi pick di medium color babies cuz mi nuh knoa ow dem a come out...

well finesse you could have one very fair complected child and one with the perfect tan :)......everyone says to me....for being twins, do you know you have 2 different colored children cara??? OMG are you serious???? i didnt have a clue!!!!!!!!!!

I feel you one of my twins is chocolate and the other is vanilla.

Mixed children are SO beautiful to me! :)

Y? Because their skin is lighter & their hair may be a finer texture? I'm sorry, but this statement is really making me feel some type of way...

I apologize if its making you feel some type of way. My children aren't mixed and I still think they are beautiful too. I just think mixed children's skin tones, eye color and hair just comes across to me in a guinuinely beautiful way. It strikes something inside of me. I don't mean anything offensive about it.

Hey MsTee...no worries...I just think that one of the problems that continue to plague the African-American/and Afro-Caribbean (is that right) is that this "exotic" and "genuinely beautiful" looked of mixed race people is something to aspire to. Whether you mean to or not in your actions, thoughts, beliefs, this will perpetuate itself in one way or another. Why do you think bleaching is running so rampant in JA? And not just JA, but all over the world. Unfortunately Africans and those from African descent continue to struggle with acceptance of their own skintone, features, etc because they know that for a majority of people it is not "as beautiful". Beautiful--yes. But still not "as beautiful". That's like saying a woman is smart, but not "as smart" as a man. Or a larger woman may be beautiful, but not "as beautiful" as a smaller woman simply because of size. If there is a way that we can make all of our children feel as though they are the most beautiful beings, then we need to make that our mission in life EACH AND EVERY DAY! If we do so, if we uplift ALL of our children, make them ALL feel special, then will there be no need for constant desire to change themselves. Trying to be something that they are not--regardless of the mental and physical implications that may be endured during their pursuit. Looking for others to validate them instead of finding that validation and acceptance within themselves and from those that love them. It would probably prevent 1/2 of the ####### that's going on with our young people today.

I agree and I am a champion for the children. They are ALL unique to me in one way or another. The misbehaved ones fascinate me even more because I want to know why they do what they do. My son happened to be one of the misbehaved.. The little boy Patrick in my classroom is white and I fell in love with him. I do not discriminate...

Morning Yardies!

I'm SOAKED this morning. We are having our first big rain & the streets are rivers this morning. I couldn't even hop all the way from the crosswalk to the curb without getting my shoes a little wet cause all the storm drains are backed up. I wonder if I'll dry out today.

Congrats MsTee! So stoked for you!:dance:

Ells – Congrats on your two month! Did you pick a costume for Halloween yet?

Thanks Shauns! We can't decide on a costume. He wants to be a black Jesus & I could be a nun as Dillon suggested (since I'm modest). Then we also thought about being mafia gangsters....then angel & devil....then a penguin (me) & him a 'freshman 15' girl (the costume was hilarious!) just to do something funny. But really we just can't make up our minds so we'll probably skip it this year. We'll go to the party 'normal'. I also thought about being swine flu.....wear a pig nose & a face mask!

Again I don't know how to quote 2 things. Ells you are the master.. teach me! I also wanted to say to Nat that i'm glad my honey wasn't the only one noticing the lack of rice as a side dish here and I also loved Steven's observations.

T2B all you have to do is quote at the bottom of each post. Each one has the 'quote' & 'reply' button & you just quote each one you want, then when you're done, you go to the very bottom of the page & 'reply to posts' (or something like that) & all of them will be included.

guess what people?

in 6 days i will be getting married! omg omg omg omg omg

i didnt feel nervous until the very minute after typing that! LMAO

I know, easier said than done but just try to breathe & relax. Your day will be wonderful & you will be his wife! How much better can it get than that? :luv::yes:

Quick rant for the day!

Just was on lunch & surfing around a little...checked out the Negril.com board & realized why I hate it. Tourists (yes, I realize technically I'm one too) have WAY too rosy a view of the whole scene there. What got me today is reading how the guy Dennis at the hammock park is such a nice, great, wonderful, special man. He may be if you're a group of tourists from Idaho, but if you go in there with your Jamaican fiance & his cousin, he's a total a$$hole! On so many occasions, we've been treated like ####### by the same people all these tourists rave about. It just makes me sick to my stomach to read the raving reviews about these people when I've seen the other side & know it's bull$hit. Okay, thanks for reading....rant over.

Chiney! Is it time for part 20??

Wow, Ells. Chill my friend. Let's put it this way.....Dennis is trying to make a buck. Is it really a bad thing for people to rave about any part of JA? Let them enjoy their time and sell it to others. Now, if she (I assume a she) is wanting to run off and marry him, maybe you should be ranting. But, otherwise, so what? You know what I am saying?

I understand that JG but the problem is wider than that & that's my real problem. I don't like the way locals in the service industry tend to treat other locals. If I go to a place by myself, of course I get the royal treatment but as soon as I bring my fiance (now hubby), we are treated shoddy. And it's not because of how we are treating them. I always treat service people very kindly & I tip well. But I see a big difference in treatment when it comes to locals patroning a place. (Maybe not in every case but I've seen it enough where it's not just my imagination.) It's not bad for places to get some raves but sometimes it's just over the top & it's from a very slanted point-of-view. I'm not one to try & rain on anyone's parade so I don't comment but I'd LOVE to tell people about the kind of treatment we get. Of course, they wouldn't believe it because they get the 'tourist' treatment. There are only a handful of places we've been to where the staff have been friendly & the places that haven't been, never see my business again & if anyone cares to ask, I'll tell them why. I could write an essay on why this bugs me (as you can see I'm starting to) but it really boils down to the difference in treatment of locals vs. the almighty white tourist. It's wrong, plain & simple.

I'm not sure what you meant about 'she wanting to run off & marry' so I can't respond to that....I keep reading it & reading what I wrote but it's not making sense....care to explain?

look at mi ticker!! mi pick di medium color babies cuz mi nuh knoa ow dem a come out...

well finesse you could have one very fair complected child and one with the perfect tan :)......everyone says to me....for being twins, do you know you have 2 different colored children cara??? OMG are you serious???? i didnt have a clue!!!!!!!!!!

that's what hubby said...what if one come out white and the other come out black?.....that would be crazy!!

It can happen but it's rare! My friend just sent me this link! (Ignore the ignorant comments in the post.)

http://stupidcelebrities.net/2008/07/25/ra...hite-one-black/

I completely understand both points here. I also think mixed children are beautiful but I equally have seen plenty of African/American/Caribbean babies that I think are stunning. Countless times I've fallen instantly in love with big brown eyes; smooth, pretty brown skin of all shades & those bright, white smiles! And I agree that all types of beauty should be promoted, not just the 'Euro standard' of it.

mstee that's an odd question they asked him

to write down your names?

They did that with us too...it is on one of the forms. He writes your name then signs his name I think.

Oh ok, they didn't do that with us they asked the questions instead....

Congratulations MsTee!!! I'm not caught up on all the posts, but I saw some big letters saying Approved.

We're off to apply for a social security number/card.

Justucia, Exciting News! I can't exactly imagine the nervous feeling you have, but I'll be there in a month or so.

I read this book & it explains, from a scientific perspective, why people tend to find interracial people attractive. (If you believe the science.)

Breeding Between the Lines: Why Interracial People are Healthier and More Attractive

Good luck applying for the SSN, I am gonna check this out seems interesting......

I have heard stories where the SO didn't know how to spell it - or didn't know the last name -

Oh ok gotcha but my question still stands what if the SO does not read or write, we know that is an issue a yaad. That shouldn't be held against him or her..... if he or she can only verbalize it.....

Bunz...mek yuh get yuh lazy self hup and read mi post! :bonk::bonk: Mi try and spread knowledge and good cheer tidey! I heard another reason they sometimes ask the beneficiary to sign their sponsor's name is to validate that they actually KNOW their names...imagine if you're sponsoring someone and they don't know your name. Or how to pronounce it. Or how to spell it. As far as the issue of them possibly not knowing how to write, then I'm guessing that would've come up in the THOUSANDS of documents that they had to sign before they got to the interview. BUT, if someone else "helped" with the signing...then...:whistle:

So Mrs P now that he has his visa in hand when will he come up?

Either the 26th or the 2th. Right now the 27th is looking cheaper!

but yuh know tings noh easy a yard, and all dem see sometimes are the dollar signs ova a tourists head....
