What happened:

The lady from DHL called around 9:40am, just as we were putting the suitcases in the car. She said that the manager could meet us at DHL in Montego Bay if we could get there in 30 MINUTES!!! There is NO WAY to get from Negril to MoBay in 30 minutes. I said it would take us 45-60. She said the manager has an engagement, so we need to hurry.

So without doing a second check around the hotel room, we basically tossed them the key and ran out. Steven needed to give his computer & key to someone, and wanted to say bye. So we went south to where he lives & we said a very quick bye to his mother and a few friends.

Mind you, his plan was to say bye to EVERYONE and get everyone's phone numbers, since he gave all his chips away. But we didn't have time.

Then we HIGHTAILED it to Montegy Bay. Once we got to Lucea, I called the manager of that DHL, Colin, to tell him where we were. He said "So it'll take you another hour?" I said "A little less than that." He said to call him when we got to Mo Bay.

Well, when we were just outside Mo Bay, I gave him a call and he said he was already at DHL. He said he'd pull the package while we got there.

Just after 11, we got to DHL and sure enough, this angel of a manager was there waiting with Steven's package! Of course we tipped him for his inconvenience that saved us a ton of time & money.

Then we had a LOT of drama at the airport. I WISH I'd bought the ticket online that morning (esp since Continental lets you cancel with no penalty within 24 hours) before we even knew... it would've taken 5 minutes MAX. However, it took several different Continental workers almost an HOUR to sell us one ticket to Houston. I was blown away by the... process (didn't want to say incompetence). Blah Blah Blah. He's here now!

The fact that this worked out is 100% attributed to the favor of God.

His first words as the plane was landing in Houston: "Lots of cars & lots of houses!"

Sad part: He didn't get ANYONE's phone numbers. So somehow we have to do that, so he can talk to his friends & family.

Nat I am so happy for you girl I am doing the Cabbage Patch here at my desk LOL People can pree me all they want but I am truly happy for you!!! Enjoy your man!

Morning/Afternoon Yardies!

I'm a little happy after just checking the USPS web site & tracking our receipt # to discover that our AOS package was delivered to Chicago yesterday! I wonder how long it will take them to cash the check?!

Hey Yardies, I guess it is inevitable for me to be in a long distance relationship. My hubby is helping out his family in FT. Lauderdale with some renovation projects, and I am alone again and pregnant

He is going to be gone all week and then back to spend the weekend with us, and will be doing that for a few months. Even though I am glad for the extra help because times are super tough I really miss my boo.

Aww Lovesponge, I'm so sorry! I hope he gets this done quick because IMO, you need him around right now. I hope you have another support system while he is away.

The tell me I'm obeast all the time. Well, when I get big enough to have gastric bypass, I"ll do that. It's too hard to do it on my own.

Ells, I know how frustrating this can be for you - But honestly, I think you have to back out of it somewhat - Lehi has to be the one to confront his Dad, it's his Dad - He has to let him know how he feels - maybe tell his Dad that if he wants to buy you both a bus ticket, you will both come - But as hard as it is, in this situation, you have to let Lehi take the lead and be the one to confront the issues. As for the cable, just tell him there was a recent raid in your neighborhood and people paid huge fines - is he gonna pay if you get caught?

I've pretty much kept completely out of these interactions & let him deal with his father how he wants to. The only thing I've put my voice in is on the cable when I keep saying 'not interested'. He's doing pretty good about making himself clear but with the guy being so pushy, it makes it difficult. I just feel bad for him when he feels bad after an awkward moment ya know?

So I spoke to Louis about him need to further his education! He needs to get is butt in gear! I wish I knew what would motovate him. I tell him without a good job and insurance it will be hard to have a baby... I am getting old!! Not much time left!!

He keeps building tables and benches etc... the apartment doesnt have enough room, but he is doing that instead of studying. I told him .. .get your GED and go to carpentry school if thats what you want... TAKE BUSINESS CLASSES!

He hasnt even smoke the you know what in MONTHS and he is still being a slacker.

what I did was teach what I could and then had him take a few hours of instructions with a driving instructor. Told him if the instructor said he was ready, he should go take test. If not, he needed to practice more. It made him really try harder to pay attention.

awww, thanks! i had a terrible day yesterday. some little focker broke into my garage and smashed the back window of my car and stole some cd's and a pack of gum. the worst part of it was that the front door of the car was open so they could have just nicely taken the cd's and left......

at least my hubby was off work yesterday so we were home together...even tho it cost us $300!!!

Sorry Finesse, that is $hitty! I've had things like that happen to & it's so frustrating because there is no real motive for it but it makes you feel really bad like 'why me'??

I'm today. Not only is Steven cooking for the third day in a row, but my supervisor just informed me that starting in October, I'm getting a raise!

Also in good news, Steven has connected with many of his family members (including his sister in New York) and friends. He is ALWAYS in a good mood after talking to people in the Yard.

On another note, this is HARD.

A 40-year-old mason from Cascade in Lucea, Hanover, yesterday had to be taken to the hospital and bathroom after an angry mob in the community beat him with sticks and stones for what they saw as an act of disrespect.

Residents from the area who spoke with THE STAR said the incident occurred sometime after 2 p.m. following roadworks which were being done on the Smithfield Road in the community.

Potholes had apparently overtaken the road and several persons took to the streets with cement and gravel trying to effect repairs the best they could.

The residents said that after they finished fixing the thoroughfare, the directive was issued that no one should drive on it until it was properly dry. That, however, fell on at least one deaf ear, as a man is said to have driven on the new road not once, but three times.

On his third spin, however, all hell and his intestines, broke lose, THE STAR was told, as the incensed workmen blocked in the driver, dragged him from around the steering wheel and delivered a fine beating.

When THE STAR contacted the Lucea police, sources at the station confirmed the incident and said they were currently seeking three men in relation with the matter, which was reported as a case of unlawful wounding.

One police source said, when the beaten man showed up at the station to make the report, some of them had to leave as the man brought a strong stench with him.

While the officer was taking the report from him he asked "A who smell so?" and the mason said "a me", the police source related. At this point the source said some colleagues were fighting to not laugh while others went for fresh air. The police personnel said the man told them he crapped his pants after the angry mob showered down blows after blows upon his body.

The police source said the report was taken as quickly as possible and the man rushed off to the hospital and bathroom. His left hand and right leg were fractured during the ordeal, THE STAR was told, in addition to other bruises over his body.

If only we had a little more of that vigilante justice here......

Well Finesse, I have been feeling violated lately. This damn raccoon has been coming on my balcony and biting my trash can top trying to get to my trash. Once night I kept hearing this noise and though it was my neighbor moving his trash can. After an hour of the same noise, I run down stairs and pull back the curtains to find a Pitbull sized raccoon sitting on top of my trash can looking me dead in my eyes. I hurry up and closed the curtains and ran screaming. That thing gave me the creeps. Ray scared it away, but now that Ray works at night I still hear it.

Last night I heard the noise again, so I threw a glass of water through my screen bedroom window with hopes of frightning it. Now, I have to pay $40 to buy another trash can because I can't buy just a trash can top. Damn wild animals. Why don't they go find a dumpster somewhere? I'm scared. My uncle said to mix some antifreeze and sugar and leave it out there for them to drink it, so I asked what will that do. He said it will blow up their stomach. So I guess I'll end up having to remove a dead raccoon. Yuk!

I understand how scary they are though....you def don't want to mess with a raccoon. I've lived with raccoons partying on my rooftop since I moved into my apartment 5 years ago.

Protect your trash.

An important aspect of raccoon control is keeping them out of the garbage cans. There's no reason for them to leave if you constantly, but inadvertently, feed them. For starters, get yourself some good, solid metal trashcans, some bungee chords, and a cinder block or two. It's kind of a pain in the backside, but you will need to cover your garbage, bungee the lid down, and place cinder blocks on top of it every night. Even if you use a city-provided garbage bin, you can still use the bungees and blocks. Even though I'm opposed to the wasteful nature of this idea, it is quite common for people to double bag any waste meat products so the alluring smell won't be as strong.

Play him some music

Raccoons may live around humans, but they do not like humans. The sound of a human voice is known to drive away raccoons. Place a radio, set to a talk radio station, in the vicinity of their nest. It doesn't have to be loud, start with a low volume level. If it doesn't get results, try increasing the volume. Leave the radio on day and night.

I don't like to hurt animals either but they can be a real nuisance and frankly, NONE of those suggestions work with raccoons. Maybe in isolated cases but most raccoons either get accustomed to the thing you're trying to scare them off with or it doesn't work in the first place. They do have Critter Ridder that works *kinda* that you might try. Other than that, rinse out any containers or cans that might have food so the smell doesn't attract them, compost what you can (if that's a possibility for you) & only take it out on trash night....if you don't compost it, perhaps still keep it in a tightly sealed container in the house (or garage) & again, only take it out on trash night (or morning). Just don't give them any reason to come around.

Sunny you have the right idea with the water. If you can (here's what I do), make sure the water hose is near your back door or window where they come. Get one of those spray nozzles with adjustable sprays & make sure one has the JET spray. Those jet sprays are usually hard enough to where you don't even want to put your hand in front of it. When you see a raccoon, if you can get to the faucet to turn it on, do it while they're messing with the trash (or leave it on one night if you can't get to it easily as long as your hose doesn't leak) & then blast them! They run & QUICK! Usually takes them a few days before they try coming around again. When they do, be consistent & get them every time even if it is a pain in the butt to get out of bed for it. That might do the trick. Might....raccoons are persistent little ba$tards! Good luck!

Call animal control, or do you have a local wildlife sanctuary? They may come with a humane trip and pick him up.

I'm sure it depends on the state but in my county, they're more concerned with the animal's welfare than mine. Usually they try to give you those 'humane' ways to discourage them but they can't be bothered with actually coming out to help you.

That's what happened to my co-worker (eventhough) I warned her to keep her cc protected. She was using them for everything because they told her she would get a better rate. She went on some Bob Marley tour and charged a few things in Kingston totally about $100/US...when she checked it out she was charged well over $1000.00.

I knew about those CC scams so I was always cautious but still used them there. I've been fortunate though & never had any problems.

i dont like racoons.. i used to be scared in my old apt cuz they would have a dyam party at the dumpter site and then they started walking the grounds at night.. BIG ones like sunny say.. i had to walk to my car one day and saw one that DID NOT run!!! i kept walking cuz usually im so scary, i was trying to be brave.. and that mo fo HISSED at me..

Been a looong time....but...those that I don't have the email addresses for ...just wanted to let you know -

I found out today that Renee, aka classychic (and wherever else she posts---hasn't posted on here for awhile, cause she's been busy)!! has been having a relationship with Craig, my husband (and we're not even legally separated yet) since she came to visit me in July. He moved there OR he's living with her...haven't been able to confirm that as yet.

Thank you to my friend that sent me the information, I appreciate you being a TRUE friend and letting me know what this scumbag has been up to. I know that some of us don't talk, but you know me through this site (or personally) but I wanted to share what "I" know....

I don't know the whole story as yet, but I will soon. What I do know is, I allowed this woman into my life. We shared stories that "true" friends shared. We talked on the phone or IM'd each other every other night. When I hadn't heard from her OR Craig for a week. I sent her an email.....and said, things that make you say hmmmmmm. No response. I KNEW in my heart at that time that something was going on between them and I shared that with a couple of you and they said, naaaa that can't be true. Their meeting was NOT by "chance", it was deliberate!!

I allowed her to come here to Maryland to stay in my home and hang out for the weekend ...and she spoke with Craig on the phone one night and I she GAVE him her phone number. I asked her why she did that and she said, what.....I would NEVER do anything.

This woman is FAKE and 2 faced. You THINK she's your friend..........yeah okay, and watch YOUR man around her cause she's THAT DESPERATE that she NEEDS to have a man in her life........even if he's an abusive one.

So..........please tell me, how would you guys handle this ? I'm at a loss right now, because I just can't believe that a "true friend" would do this ! I'm in shock, but completely hurt by this "friend".

Wow, and everything I've been through for the past 3 months with my dad and his lung cancer ...........I just did NOT NEED THIS !! I don't even know what to do and how to think right now !!

I think it's kindof funny how she's blocked me from facebook, but....the friends that I have let me know what she was doing! To put the picture of her AND Craig on her profile page........WOW........TRASH, is all I gotta say !!!
