Understandable, esp after your yesterday. What made my afternoon FLY by yesterday was spending it training other people on stuff. If my job was training people all the time, I'd LOVE it.

I am the same, Nat - I love the training aspect of my job - I am working on my Capstone for my masters right now, and chose training as my focus - I am trying to leverage myself into that type of position -

Good morning all!

Best wishes to Mrs. P and Mr. P...you guys will nail it! I can't wait to hear the news that you were approved! Woooooooo-Hooooooo!

Sus...I don't want to go to work either...*sigh* sorry your day in court didn't work out so well. Why didn't you work from home today?

Hubby dreamed that we won the lottery...so I decided to play $5 on the Mega Millions (est. $122 million). He dreamed that we went shopping for cars and I wanted my 300 and he told me that was a simple car...that we needed to get matching his/hers Range Rovers. LOL Then, we started shopping for a house here and one in Jamaica. He was so excited too.

Yesterday, Dillon (or maybe JG) indicated that she hates reality tv.

I finally finished my speech (that I'm giving in less than 3 hrs) on the good side of reality tv.

My 3 main points are that:

1) America loves rags-to-riches/transformation stories. Reality TV is full of those and even allows us to participate in helping our favorite contestant realize his/her dream. Whether seeing a house go from ugly & unsellable to beautiful & sold, or watching your fellow college-mate (George Huff) make it to the top 5 on American Idol, or watching your sister-in-law expand her genres & performance ability to come in second in Rising Stars, we get to witness transformations.

2) You can learn from Reality TV. When watching What Not to Wear, you witness the style progression of the person on the show, but also pick up tips that you can use to dress better. Top Chef, Hell's Kitchen, & Iron Chef show competition, but also new recipes that can expand your own recipe repertoire. Watching the variosu shows on HGTV keeps you informed on what the current homebuyer is looking for in a house (granite countertops, stainless steel appliances, and hardwood floors), and even helps you figure out layouts & decorations to improve your own home.

3) You get insight into how others deal with various situations, so you have some reference if you go through the same thing. Wife Swap shows you how children behave in extreme households: fiercely competitive vs no competition at all, strict & structured vs 100% fun. Househusbands of Hollywood shows how 5 men handle various relationship aspects (finances, sex, children) being the stay-at-home husbands/fathers while their wives bring home all the $$.

Not all shows have such redeeming qualities, but enough do to warrant appreciation for the genre.

Bounty Killer barred from Trinidad

AP

Monday, October 05, 2009

PORT-OF-SPAIN, Trinidad (AP) - Authorities barred Jamaican rapper Bounty Killer from entering Trinidad for a weekend show where he was scheduled to appear, a concert promoter said Sunday.

Bounty Killer

Verne Extavour, spokesman for Jacho Entertainment, told The Associated Press that Bounty Killer was turned away upon arrival and flew back to Jamaica.

No explanation was given, Extavour said. Immigration officials did not immediately return a call seeking comment.

The last time Bounty Killer was in Trinidad, he was arrested on stage and charged with using obscene language. Authorities in Jamaica arrested him for the same reason during last year's Reggae Sumfest.

Best known for the album My Xperience and for collaborating with No Doubt on the song Hey Baby, Bounty Killer was one of a number of musicians scheduled to perform at Saturday's concert.

Among them was Vybz Kartel, with whom Bounty Killer has a long-standing rivalry that has led to violence between their fans. Promoters had said the concert would represent a truce.

dammit...i didn't win the powerball again..

has anyone seen that show how the lottery changed my life? (or something along those lines)

how come every one i've seen the winners have been some old fat no teeth having country bumkins....and they spend their money on a new rv???

I won $3. Had the stupid powerball number.

You never heard this song?

I just got off of work at 5

Drivin' that old van I drive

Overalls and dirty boots

But Uncle Bill needed a funeral suit

So when I walked in that fancy store

Well they looked at me like I was poor

But a wad of hundred dollar bills caused a stir

It went from don't take checks to right away, yes sir!

Upper middle class white trash

My pockets can't hold all my cash

'Cause one day I stopped to pee

Got some gas and won the lottery

Now I'm investin' in my neighborhood

My friends and family, they're all livin' pretty good!

My trailer park's full of Cadillacs

And upper middle class white trash

Well I got my homeboy Chris a brand new shop

For all those cars on cinder blocks

And cousin Charlie, well he thinks it's cool

To keep a large mouth bass in his new swimmin' pool

I had a birthday party for mama last night

In her ninety and a half foot triple-wide

You ain't seen nothin' if you ain't seen

NASCAR on a sixty inch plasma screen

Upper middle class white trash

My pockets can't hold all my cash

'Cause one day I stopped to pee

Got some gas and won the lottery

Now I'm investin' in my neighborhood

My friends and family, they're all livin' pretty good!

My trailer park's full of Cadillacs

And upper middle class white trash

We're buyin' chicken wings by the bucket!

We can't eat 'em all, we just say 'chuck it'

All the Miller Light you can handle

A hundred and fifty-seven movie channels

Upper middle class white trash

Our pockets can't hold all our cash

'Cause one day I just had to pee

Got some gas and won the lottery

Now I'm investin' in my neighborhood

My friends and family, they're all livin' pretty dag gum good!

My trailer park's full of Cadillacs

And upper middle class white trash

So pop a top, sit back and relax

All you upper middle class white trash

Ha ha ha

Sus, when you going to JA next? Nov right?

also, not sure if this is "taboo" or not but just wondering why people make all this effort to send forms back to JA for signatures? I don't want to have to spell it out but if there is something I don't know about please tell me cause I don't understand

You are you going to have to spell it out for me cause I have no clue why you are asking that? Sending them back to get them signed because it will be sent in before they make another trip to JA or something of that sort is my thoughts.

Love this story!

Love between German and Pole survives Iron Curtain

By VANESSA GERA (AP) – 2 days ago

MIESZKOWICE, Poland — For five decades, she kept his picture in her wallet — a black-and-white snapshot of a handsome young Polish man with brooding eyes.

The unlikely love story of Elvira Profe and Fortunat Mackiewicz began in the chaotic aftermath of World War II, as Poland's borders were redrawn by the victorious Allies and millions of Germans were expelled.

It blossomed even as their people seethed with mutual hate and endured some of the past century's most tortured upheavals, and survived the Cold War that drove them apart. Now, in this 70th year since World War II broke out, and 20th year since the Cold War ended, they are married in a love affair that has triumphed against all odds.

How do you pronounce this name....

L-A

i would guess ell ay....like as in LA Lakers

Dat's what I thought too. My friend who is a teacher told me its pronounced LA-Dash-A the dash isnt silent....

That kid will eventually change his/her name cause they get tired of correcting everyone eventually. That's just too far out there for me.

Wonder if they will have problems with forms and things like that.

Here's a topic - do you think a love like that would exist today or was it because it was a different generation?

Yes I do. I think people can hold someone close to their heart even if they aren't around. It's the challenge of making it work after meetng up again that is the part that is ify!

Jesus Take the Wheel: 74 Year Old Woman gets Mauled by a Pack of Raccoons…

A 74 year-old- Florida woman was attacked by a pack of raccoons over the weekend. Apparently, she was trying to shoooo them off her lawn and they got gangsta with her.

Shocked by the initial attack, Gretchen Whittead fell to the floor where she was enveloped by five raccoons that scratched her up something terrible. According to reports, she was bitten and scratched from her face and chest, all the way down through the legs where apparent flesh was visible. Raccoons are known to attack when it comes to food, but this case is rare since there was no real harm to make the animals feel threatened.

Lakeland police are now on a wild hunt to capture as many raccoons as possible by placing traps around town. They have warned residents of the potential threat and want people's families to be safe.

Who knew raccoons could gang attack someone?

Tre and Sunny are probably running for cover now!
