ok, here goes...it is actually a bit sad and disappointing...

my aunt, who is in her 50's and has been married for almost 30 years, recently got caught having an affair on her husband. the man she has been having an affair with is a friend she has known for 20 years who is from and lives in jamaica.

my aunts connection to jamaica has absolutely nothing to do with me nor my husband. she has been visiting the island for 20+ years, she is a RN and volunteers at a clinic in Ochie 2-3 times a year, has many friends and connections there...even has friends with visitors visa come and visit her here.

long story short, she admitted to having this affair for the last year and her and her husband are now trying to work things out and has since cut all communication off with dude.

my husband has no connection to this man other than they are both jamaican (hubby actually met him through me) but he now feels like he doesn't want to go to my family's for the holidays because he feels as though they will look at him a way, especially my aunt's husband....soley based on the fact that he is jamaican

i sort of understand his feelings but still don't really think they feel any way towards him about it.

do you think hubby has a right to feel a way?

Hi everyone it has been along time a lot of new faces. I am good just dropped in to say VJ is always on my mind. My Journey has ended filed for divorce. Newbies don't get scare just some differences you can't overcome. My only advice is if things don't work out don't beat yourself up. Sometimes what seems like it's right is not and it is just another life lesson. Hey Tre, Irie, portland and 1luv.

((((((((((Hugs))))))))))))) Love you. Hope to you see in November.

finesse, hubby feels the way he does and I don't think anyone should judge that.

Do you ALWAYS go to your families for the holidays??

Maybe they will be trying to recover and repair their relationship and decide they don't want a gathering anyway...?

I would say accept how he feels and maybe talk to your Aunt about how she thinks her husband will react to hubby.

Has her husband been okay with hubby in the past?

Is he the type of person that would take what one man did and judge a whole culture from it??

I am with you bunz....

Validate his feelings but then try and explain how it would look if he didn't go....

my family is totally cool and has loved hubby from day one....they are not judgemental at all. it is more about hubby's sensitivity..

this will be hubby's 3rd holiday season here. last year we spent thanksgiving with them and stayed home for xmas....and the year before that the reverse
