But in regards to the Spanish mixing more racially in their colonies, that wasn't always necessarily the accepted thing to do. It created different social statuses, creoles, mestizos and then very different levels of quality of life in many areas....

Israel does have the right to exist, but not at the expense of the Palestinian people, who have suffered far too long at the hands of the Zionist occupiers of THEIR land.....

maybe the current crisis will bring in Iran and Syria to the conflict, then lets see how the Israelis tackle them?

Israel has been getting away with muderous and terrorist activities for way too long now...

Don't be fooled...... Iran and Syria already have their DIRTY little fingers in this conflict, make no mistake about it. And if they are brought in to fight...... Isreal has been there done that before and will take care of them

Oh..... by the way..... my vote is a big Y E S !!!!!

Who voted 'not sure'? Please. Have an opinion. I'd rather see 'no' than 'not sure'.

"The fact that we are here today to debate raising America’s debt limit is a sign of leadership failure. It is a sign that the U.S. Government can’t pay its own bills. It is a sign that we now depend on ongoing financial assistance from foreign countries to finance our Government’s reckless fiscal policies."

Israel and America have to think a while before going further is this war because neither Iran nor Syria are easy to capture.

AND another point to add on this whole situation, Israel was attacked by several Arab states almost immediately upon being created and Israel won the wars despite being such a new nation. People say they have taken land that wasn't theirs, but they won wars and then claimed land. Is that not how civilizations form and grow? Is that any different then how America was formed? Not really except that it happened way later in history. You look at Europe and its borders, how did they get there? Wars were fought and territory traded hands.

My vote is yes

And in this line, most of the Muslim countries today are the result of Muslim conquests of previous Christian civilizations.

Don't be fooled...... Iran and Syria already have their DIRTY little fingers in this conflict, make no mistake about it. And if they are brought in to fight...... Isreal has been there done that before and will take care of them

Yep....Iran and Syria are the major backers of Hezbollah. The reason Israel bombed the Beirut airport was to prevent Lebanon from smuggling the prisoners into Syria, and to prevent weapons being brought in from Syria or Iran.

I vote yes. What do you think? For the purposes of this, disregard the current conflict in the region. Simply state whether or not you believe the nation as we know it today, has a right to exist.

I'm not sure it's a fair question since Israel now exists and I think if you polled most people here would not support dismantling Israel.

I don't think the way it was formed and the land that was decided upon was right or fair, but I really think that point is now moot.

You're the second person to say that. I don't really get it.

Plenty of people say, after the fact, that Ken Lay had no right to rip off all those Enron employees. Sure it has no real impact but that's not the point. You can still say it. You can still have the opinion.

I've never understood the concept of Israel. Maybe someone could clear this up.

A third party walked in and gave a chunk of Palestine to the Israelis, and Palestine was supposed to not be upset. I know this is a fantastic amount of oversimplification, so maybe someone can fill in the details of my dodgy history education here?

Nope you seem to have a pretty clear grasp of it.

My point exactly.

Oh trust me.......America does not want to capture Iran or Syria. We'd love to be able to not care what they do over there and let them live their lives.

You have to ask yourself why does the U.S. get involved? What do we possibly have to gain? Do you really think the U.S. wants these problems?
