Well there is a You Tube video of President Eisenhower warning us of the dangers of the Military Industrial Complex.

I guess that's another fail for Dannologic.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

Actually, it's just another silly post from you that doesn't quite hit the nail on the head.

I guess it's possible to "assign" fail status to a point I made,

but first you must... yourself "be" on point in your reply.

I mean look at your post man...

Talking about Military complexes and a video somewhere on Youtube???

Come one Hal, Mamma spent a lot of money on all that school'in, don't let yourself get skunked by

DANNO again.

Are you aware of the fact that the US Constitution makes a provision for the government to maintain roadways?

IS that another topic you wish to discuss?

I'm open to it, why don't you post a little about it lets see where it goes.

Article 1, Section 8.

And if it has a provision to maintain them... it must also have a Right to build them anywhere it wants?

And you get this from:

<<<<[The Congress shall have power] To regulate commerce with foreign nations, and among the several states, and with the Indian tribes;>>>>>

I guess all of these people who are against federal (socialist) healthcare also never visit libraries or drive on the Interstate system....

Damn Socialists! Everyone knows the government can't possibly run a large venture like healthcare or an Interstate highway system!

#######????????

Oh he's just doin the usual... "lets bring up silly stuff" rather than debate the issue being raised.

Speaking of "Lybrairies" seems ole Platypuss needs to make his annual visit as he is not up to speed on the Interstate Highway System and what it's purpose was (and that Eisenhower was in the GOP)

-----------------

Interstate Highway System

Main article: Interstate Highway System

One of Eisenhower's enduring achievements was championing and signing the bill that authorized the Interstate Highway System in 1956.[44] He justified the project through the Federal Aid Highway Act of 1956 as essential to American security during the Cold War. It was believed that large cities would be targets in a possible future war, and the highways were designed to evacuate them and allow the military to move in.

Now we're lurn'in

Danno I detest platy but he has a point. Had the GOP of the time had the 2009 GOP / Rush / Conservative stance, America would have no interstate period. Regardless of its purpose, how did they pay for the road? Government cannot run it bla bla bla. The United States interstate system is the best in the world. Sure the quality of the roads are now on par with 2nd world countries thanks to republicans but nonetheless, the network is second to none.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

Mr. Simpson -

If you are working in construction, you have your health care benefits by the muscle of your union and not by the 'worthiness' of your job.

So stop trying to blow sunshine up my skirt about 'worth'. You just happen to have a union and a lot of people don't.

Hi, i'm arriving late to this discussion...

But let's just keep in mind that even a lot of construction jobs with smaller firms DO NOT offer health insurance. And if you're not yet in the Union, you may be a highly qualified, highly productive, "skilled" worker, and still not have insurance coverage even though you work a very dangerous job. Not just the general laborers, but electricians, carpenters... it happens. It's silly to think that if you have a job you have insurance... that is simply not true across the board.

Same goes with IT field & engineering consultants, small business folks whose employers do not offer coverage.

Fine if you can afford to buy your own... but if you can't? If you are trying to cover a whole family and maybe you are not making big bucks? Try purchasing individual coverage with a pre-ex... just try it. A pre-ex can be anything from a urinary infection 2 years ago to pregnancy to diabetes...

This is what the debate should be about: Being able to attain affordable coverage for everyone.

So maybe a business chooses not to insure a dishwasher or a burger flipper, i can see why businesses wouldn't want to do that.... However, that same person should be able to go out and purchase insurance on his or her own... It should be more affordable and more readily available.
