Does anyone here at VJ actually believe there are 45 million people desperate of Health insurance?

While we're at it - we might say also that unemployment statistics represent the full picture of how many people are unemployed, rather than just the ones claiming welfare.

Well if you include all the illigal immigrants in the country that do not do the Visa Process like we are doing, then 45 million uninsured could be close.

Actually Danno, I think the numbers may well be higher than that - counting people who lose insurance at some point in their working lives, even if its just for a few weeks or months.

I think the number is probably higher than that, especially when you consider how many people have HSA plans they can't really afford. HSA plans are attractive for low income households because of the low premiums, but many of them don't have the income for the high deductibles.

The 45 million is an official government statistic, based on the US Census. That's why he's using it Danno.

I have no idea. They were talking about the current 2 million that are on Medicaid and were discussing expanding Medicaid to the 4 million more uninsured that don't currently qualify for it in the state. They didn't say anything about the status of the uninsured though.

I believe that 45 million is somewhere in the ballpark. There's no way to get an exact number but that is probably as close an estimate as possible. Maybe it's only 35 or 40 million. Would that make Danno feel better?

You did say desperately uninsured so I say the number is quite a bit lower if you leave out the people that can afford insurance but choose not too. I think a lot of illegal immigrants are desperate so I cant subtract them, now if there deserving well thats another thread. I say what is 30 million Alex Danno.
