I-864 form requirements

Hi,

One of my friend's did I-130 for her wife and got an approval letter recently. He paid the AOS fees and everything.

He is unemployed since May 2009.

Question 1: Does he still have to get job letter from his previous employer?

Question 2: Does he need check stubs prior to May?

CR-1/NVC
November 16, 2009: Sign-in Failed!!
November 16, 2009: December interviews already scheduled. Operator told me to wait for a possible January interview date. Call back in the 2nd week of December
November 30, 2009: Been trying to call NVC but line busy since late after noon. Finally, got email appointment letter from NVC with the Interview date of January 19, 2010. Yeppe Alhamdulillah>
December 24, 2009: Medical Done and report recieved the same day.
January 11, 2010: Medical submitted at VFS. They asked for: Copy of Packet 3, Appointment letter, and Passport. They told her to take a copy of I-864 and the documents submitted with it, at the time of interview with other proof of relationship documents.
January 19, 2010: VISA APPROVED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 21, 2010: Visa recieved in mail (Package included passport with visa stamped, sealed big brown envelop to be submitted at POE immigration at the airport, and instructions to apply for SS Card)

USA
February 07, 2010: POE Chicago --> Very easy, within 45 minutes
March 02, 2010: SS Card recieved in mail. Welcome letter recieved in mail as well
March 13, 2010: GC Recieved in mail

January 29, 2015: N-400 Application submitted

The previous job doesn't count anymore, though they'll still ask for his tax papers. He needs a new job, to be able to sponsor her with assets (savings, shares, a house etc), or find a co-sponsor.

Me: Irish/ Swiss citizen, and now naturalised US citizen. Husband: USC; twin babies born Feb 08 in Ireland and a daughter in Feb 2010 in Arkansas who are all joint Irish/ USC. Did DCF (IR1) in 6 weeks via the Dublin, Ireland embassy and now living in Arkansas.

He says he has enough money in his account to sponsor his wife. Does he still need a new job?

Also, how much should be the yearly earnings, in orderto be able to sponsor someone. is it $12,000?

Question 2: Does he need check stubs prior to May?

I would guess he would just need the tax return. Since he is no longer employed

there is no point for a job letter or check stubs to demonstrate stable source of income.

I believe your friend would need 3x the 125% of poverty line income in assets.

But read this anyway. It has all the income and asset requirements.

2009 Income Requirements

125% for Household of 2 = 18,212

Asset requirement would be 54,636 in liquid assets.

See page 8 of the I-864 instructions for asset valuation information.
