Even though they said she can pick up her visa next week, I think it would be wiser to wait until she has the visa 'in hand' before you purchase tickets.

:time: I don't know what arrangements you are planning, but when I travel FROM the US I try to get a flight departing

on Tuesday, Wednesday or Saturday because they are usually the cheapest. I usually choose one of those same days

for my return, but I haven't made an extensive survey of ticket prices on the Thai side for a given day of the week.

Bottom line: WAIT as the above posters suggested.

Congrats & good luck!

I agree, you never know. She could go to the Embassy and they say, their printer was down or something, and it won't be ready until Thursday...

Annoying yes, but until you have that visa in hand, I wouldn't be making any flight arrangements. However, if you can get a really good price, that allows you to change with only a minimum charge, then you might want to take that into consideration as well.

There is no reason to wait. Even if the flight would have to be changed it would only take a phone call to change the departure info. Ask at the travel agency where you buy the tickets.

We picked up the visa on Tuesday afternoon & left Thailand at about 5 pm that day. We bought the tickets 4 days before & called in to confirm the departure date.

They dont have a different rate for different days as we do in the USA.

If you buy your ticket early and have to change your flight, a lot of the airlines charge a fee. Maybe that is not important but IMO I would wait until you have your visa in hand. Congrats

Correct. I'm not aware of any airlines that let you change your departure date without paying a fee. Refundable or open-ended tickets are going to be a lot more expensive than "normal" tickets as well.

If your visa was approved please :time:

Your last entry was "NVC Left"

Is that true for every day of the week all airlines charge the same rate on the Thailand side?

My advice is wait until it is in her hand. They might have some sort of unseen delay in handing out the visa. If you want the cheaper ticket, get insurance that allows you to change the dates if need be. But YES you can get the plane tickets for Wednesday if you wanted. I would just talk with your fiancée and make sure she is ready that soon. I would have her visit as many as her relatives as possible you do not know when she might actually get to see them again. I am happy that you got the visa! Good luck with your fiancée!!
