Household member as a co-sponsor...

I just got approved today but I'm trying to get a straight answer to a question. I can come close to reaching the poverty requirements for the AoS but would really like to use a co-sponsor just to be safe. Now from what I'm reading, I can use let's say my mother as a co-sponsor. If my mother lived with me I could use her as a household member co-sponsor. The question is, when it involves household members as a co-sponsor, would it combine my income with hers to make the poverty requirement or would my mother have to reach the requirement on her own? Really confused about this. Getting mixed answers.

You are correct, a household member would complete an I-864A and that person's income would be combined with yours.

Also, do I really need to collect copies of my federal tax returns at $57 a piece or are the IRS transcripts enough?

you can photocopy your tax return, W2's, etc. and submit, though the free IRS transcripts are preferred. Just call the number and you'll get them in a couple of weeks.
