Hi peeps.

Our interview at the US Embassy Manila is on October 8 at 7:00 a.m.

I'm the K3 Beneficiary, my husband is the USC.

Been doing some advance work on our forms, and recently discovered I made an error.

My dad's passport has the correct name and birthdate, but his birth place is listed as Butuan City...when it should be Makati Rizal (as it appears on my birth certificate).

What I put on my G-325As when we filed the I-130 and the I-129F was Butuan City for my dad's birth place.

Should I write my dad's correct birth place in the G-325A when I file for AOS or before I file for AOS? Who should I inform: USCIS, NVC, or the US Embassy...or all of the above...and how? What documents should I be prepared to present?

if it says Butuan city in his passport, then it's probably because it's what it says too on his own BC...which means it's correct that you indicated the same on your G325 and 129f...but to be sure find out first how you it happened that you have makati rizal on your BC...and fix it with an affidavit of discrepancy (might involve your father in the process, depending on whether it's major or minor) ...you can usually investigate through your local civil registrar on how this happened and request for a correction (depending also on whether it's considered a major or minor correction). if the NSO considers this a major correction, you might have to wait for the correction (annotation) to appear on your "new" BC, then request a new copy of that BC.

i hope it's not a big deal since the discrepancy is not about your birth details.

to answer to your other question, it would better to be consistent with what you put on your G325 and 129f when you apply for AOS, until they discover the inconsistency, hopefully they won't (while you're fixing the problem w/ your local registrar) and inform them of the correction when you have the new docs in hand.

His birth place is Makati Rizal. That's what appears on his birth certificate and mine. This is what the correct entry is...the errors are on my G-325As.

Many years back he went to the Middle East and in those days it was not easy to get a passport...am not sure what the exact circumstances were but he needed a passport fast and the quickest way he could do it was to get it outside Metro Manila...hence the Butuan City birth place...I have no clue how they did that...considering you need a birth record for such a document.

Am thinking this would have a bigger impact if I attempted to sponsor him later after I become a citizen...but of course, I am thinking way ahead of myself. lol

However, because I want to set the record right, I need to know if this is something I can get corrected without a problem (meaning it will just be treated as a clerical error without consequence) or if I need to provide supporting documents to show his true birth place before they allow the correction (I never underestimate the capacity of the bureaucracy to put you in paperwork hell lol).

Your thoughts, VJ peeps?

SIDE NOTE: My dad is using a green Philippine passport (with the incorrect birth place) and now he wants to change it to the machine readable one...but with the wrong birth place, he may find himself in a pickle later....but of course that is another story.

right now you're ok to go to the interview w/out worrying about the mistake on your father's bc/passport. if it ever comes up during your interview (but i doubt it would) just tell the CO it's based on many conflicting docs your father and his family has...something like that.

but i can tell you this, he can solve the problem right away by applying for a new passport by declaring the old one lost (and i suppose it's long been expired anyway, which is good) through an affidavit.

the problem he might have though is when records of the old passport shows the different place of birth, which he might again have to legally explain through an affidavit. a bigger problem though could be that he got a genuine passport when he went to the middle east but he ontained it through illegal means...hopefully he doesn't have to.
