AHHHH!!!!!!!

I LOVE HIM!

"...My hair's mostly wind,

My eyes filled with grit

My skin's white then brown

My lips chapped and split

I've lain on the prairie and heard grasses sigh

I've stared at the vast open bowl of the sky

I've seen all the castles and faces in clouds

My home is the prairie and for that I am proud…

If You're not from the Prairie, you can't know my soul

You don't know our blizzards; you've not fought our cold

You can't know my mind, nor ever my heart

Unless deep within you there's somehow a part…

A part of these things that I've said that I know,

The wind, sky and earth, the storms and the snow.

Best say that you have - and then we'll be one,

For we will have shared that same blazing sun." - David Bouchard

Congratulations on your new fur baby, Carla! He is absolutely adorable. Doxies are great dogs, too.

Awwww.... what a cutie patootie! :luv: Such a sweet little guy. I'd say that I want one too, but I already have a Goldendoodle and I'm picking up two new additions to my house tonight - kittens. I'm so excited I can hardly concentrate on work today!! Although I love my dog to pieces, I'll be one of those 80 year old women they find dead in her house with 25 cats.

OMG Carla! Hes sooooooo cute! And look at those eyes! They remind me of our youngest dogs in that they reflect blue back instead of gold. Congrats :D I'm sure he will get snuggled to pieces

That made me laugh so hard I'm just glad there wasn't any food in my mouth when I read it. Thanks for that.

Gilbert is a fine name for a puppy, however.

Ugh, I tried to quote and reply to some of the responses, but I can't unless I want to use all those pictures in my reply!

Anyway, I'll try now to remember what I said.

JG...of course you're going to meet him! BUT, you will be taking him home over my dead body. ;) The thing around his next is a scrunchie! The current owners put it on him and his other three brothers, different colours of course for pictures. Actually, the pictures I posted are their pictures. He weighs about 2 pounds right now, and full grown will weigh about 9 pounds.

charles...timbit is a wonderful name, and I should have thought of that! But you know how we got his name? This is for you Ant...we were talking before we looked at dogs, for names. One night we were laying in bed and we were thinking of names. If it was a girl, we thought perhaps Maggie, which was my grandmother's name, then we thought, hmm, no...Minnie! That's my Mom's name in fact. So Minnie it was going to be if it was a female. So, for male names, I said to Gene, my Grandmother Maggie, was married to Gilbert! We both laughed and laughed and said...that's it! Gilbert!

The funny thing is...as soon as we saw him, we both looked at each other and said..Gilbert! He does look EXACTLY like a Gilbert too! That may sound funny, unless other pet owners have done this? I should say, while I've owned about 4 cats, and 3 dogs in my lifetime, I've NEVER been the one that got to name my pets. It was either my brother, my parents, my ex, and/or my kids. So I was thrilled that not only did I get to pick the name, but that it fit!

SomberCat...please let us see the pictures of your two new kittens as well! Congratulations!

Soooo cute Carla!! I am sure Gilbert will be a wonderful addition to your family! My future in-laws have two mini weiner dogs, they absolutely love them to death! They are his dad's "girls". They are definitely loveable, the younger one that is black like gilbert is a princess, always looking for someone to give her love. The older one is more the mother type and only goes to his dad & mom for attention. They definitely get over excited when people come to the door, running up to you and barking and then peeing (thank god for hardwood& tile), then whining for you to pet them.

Carla, Gilbert is absolutely adorable! He is so lucky to have found his new home with you - the fit seems perfect! 9 lbs full grown? Heck, my cats weight more than that :D !

Our puppy was originally going to be called Buddy (my dad thought that one up  ) but his face...the markings on it are like a little bandits mask so thats how he got his name. And boy does he live up to it!
