Hi! So far, the journey has not been so bad since I have read many other people experiences in this forum and on others so I was able to have many of my documents prepared long before they were requested.

 I do have a question though...

When are most of you guys requesting it in Jamaica? I see in other countries you can request it whenever by just going and requesting it. I know in Jamaica a request has to be made in writing but I was just wondering if the person requesting the report has to have some kind of official documentation from INS, the embassy, or NVC in order to request it???

I have everything I need for the DS230 package except for the police report and was just wondering at what point can the police report be requested. It would be really nice to be able to ship this package as soon as NVC gives me the ok so that I can keep things moving

You need to apply close to the date of the interview, I guess they want to make sure no crimes are committed. You can get it 3 days in advance which cost 2000JA or 21 days and it costs 1000JA. I have the address and info if you'd like it...

You need the medical too but cannot do it until you have the interview date...

Do you have the non-impediment form. Jamaicans MUST have this as well...

Yes please provide me with the location information, thank you.

So I am wondering...with regard to the CR1, it seems that the DS230 package will come before the interview is scheduled, so isn't there a way the police certificate can be obtained so that when the DS230 package arrives, it can be sent back out without delay?

Based on the timelines I have seen here, I assume that the interview could be towards the end of the year, but the DS230 package would be sent out before then...so I am wondering if there will be trouble getting the certificate without any documentation from NVC or the Embassy showing that the certificate is needed for immigration purposes.

What's your take?

You don't need to show any paperwork related to the visa for him to get his police report. As long as you are paying they don't care what you are using it for. I believe it's good for 6 months so I think he can get it any time now. He goes to one place and pays and then he has to go to another place and have his finger prints taken and fill out paperwork. I did the 3 days service since it wasn't that much more and things always seems to take longer in JA.

If you live in Jamaica

You must apply in person at this address:

Ministry of National Security

Mutual Life Building - North Tower

2 Oxford Road, Ground Floor

Kingston 5

Jamaica

For your application, you will need:

•your valid passport

•two identical passport-size photographs

•pay the applicable fees. Fees are $1000JMD (normal service) or $2000JMD (express 1 week service). Note that Fees are subject to change.

You will be issued a receipt, which you must then bring to:

The Criminal Records Office

Police Certificate Section

34 Duke Street, Kingston

Jamaica

Ok, one more question about the police report...for the CR1 are fingerprints required? Or are the fingerprints somthing that is needed for the K1 and other visa types when the police report is obtained/requested?

finger prints are required

Thank you very much! At this point, it seems as though I may be at a standstill because my husband is being very stubborn and does not want to request the police report. He has a bad habit of trying to verify everything I tell him with everyone else that is doing filing...it makes me nuts.

I have read so many times, but maybe I am not reading it properly...I could have sworn that the DS-230 packet requires the police report when it is sent to NVC BEFORE the case is completed and forwarded to the embassy???? Am I wrong?

My husband is questioning that I need the police report to send with the DS-230 (packet IV) if he will need a police report for the interview as well...does this mean request two, or get one now, and request the next one later?

Thoughts?

from what I understand, you are to send the police report with the DS230

nvc ultimately sends those documents to the consulate in kgn

so he only needs one report

when your husband is seeking advice from other ppl who are filing he should ensure it's ppl doing a CR1/IR1 and not K1/K3

the procedures are different for both
