Ok, I went today to gather all the information and paperwork that I am going to need to file for the K-1 petition. I got my work history for the last 5 years and a round about history of my living history for the last 5 years, birth certificate and copies of my divorce papers. Now, what I am wondering is.. about the divorce papers.. (I swear that file was a mile wide), do I need a copy of every page in that folder from the clerk of court's office or just the "Final Judgement and Decree"??? I made sure I got two copies of that because it had to be notarized and I wanted to have backups of all original documents. Now I guess I'm just looking for reassurance that I did indeed get the right document, because I can't seem to find that page for reference for the life of me.

I married my British Husband strictly for financial purposes. My heart wrote a check and I cashed it. (L)

You need the final judgement and decree and it needs to have the "entered" date and stamp of the court on it. In can be a copy, but the stamp must be legible.

Thank goodness. That is what I got was the "final judgement and decree". I did NOT get copies. All original documents. Everything sealed and notorized! yay one step closer!

LOL I wondered about that when I was there getting mine yesterday until my sister put it in perspective for me. I think her exact words were.. "They need to know your divorced and it's settled.. not who got the dog". Cracked me up, but it made sense to me.
