 Amazing... so in conclusion you can say whatever you want because someone with an opposing view made a similarly inflammatory remark at one point. When I call your BS you attack me by saying that I'm self-righteous & bias (glossing completely over the fact that I have, on several occasions, similarly denounced comments from the VJ Left). However what's missing here is any sort of self reflection on how absolutely hypocritical you are.

We have the evil laugh, and an insult to me, sure signs of your frustration. TIme is almost up.

The thing that I find most interesting is that I have to point out to you that someone else posts the way you dislike, since you tend to focus on me. There's nothing hypocritical about my position. I don't call for censorship of other people's views. I don't lecture anyone on how they should post. I know what my positions are and I articulate them. And, I don't fall for your BS, no matter how hard you try to bait me.

So this is what happens on the night shift..

I've read through this whole thread  and my conclusion is that the topic is polarizing and whenever there is such a polarizing topic there almost always be a prescribed set of events on the thread--

a)partisanship

(b )personal attcks

c) baiting

d) lone voice of reason

e) displays of posting histories

f) deliberatly not calling a poster by their VJ name ( I.E Sofi and Stevie)

g) someone breaks and hits the report button...

h) I am in before the lock ( especially if kathryn is on tonight).

Why are people acting suprised when things turn stupid and ugly?

Take a large, almost round, rotating sphere about 8000 miles in diameter, surround it with a murky, viscous atmosphere of gases mixed with water vapor, tilt its axis so it wobbles back and forth with respect to a source of heat and light, freeze it at both ends and roast it in the middle, cover most of its surface with liquid that constantly feeds vapor into the atmosphere as the sphere tosses billions of gallons up and down to the rhythmic pulling of a captive satellite and the sun. Then try to predict the conditions of that atmosphere over a small area within a 5 mile radius for a period of one to five days in advance!

 You're entertaining, if not terribly self-aware or logical. If it makes you feel better I focus on a few other extreme posters as well. As for "censoring your views" that's a ridiculous assertion as I have never done that once to you or anyone else on VJ (denouncing baseless rhetoric is not censorship, but nice try).

OK tootz I'm going to bed... have fun!

I haven't heard anyone say in person that they don't like Obama because he's black. The idea Obama's policies are generally judged differently because of the color of his skin is ridiculous.

The trend now is to now label opponents of Obama as racist because they desperate need something, anything to save the Democrats. I expect we'll have more of these racist charges as Obama's poll numbers and the economy continues to tank.

Actually it started during the election when people were making a special effort to anunciate Obama's middle name and trying to make him out to be some sort of Muslim manchurian candidate. Lots of nudge-nudge, wink-wink, dotdotdot innuendo to emphasis a sense of "otherness" about Obama - as if he isn't as True-American as the other candidates who were running.

I'm disappointed in this thread, normally these Punch and Judy show threads have the saving grace of being funny. This one just isn't. Oh well, another day...

Refusing to use the spellchick!

I have put you on ignore. No really, I have, but you are still ruining my enjoyment of this site. .

No conservative worth their salt should be surprised that their mere presence here makes the libs crazy.

You know when a ball on a string is swung in one direction and then is jerked back? When that ball passes the initial point of origin, it never stops- it overshoots to then swing back and forth until it reaches rest.

That's were we're at as a society. Not quite post-racial, but on our way there.

We elected a black President, still not enough to convince you? Im convinced.

That's what happens when you think in terms of one society, one thought. Last I checked... that was clearly not the case.

Smoke and mirrors Hal, do your believe that most of the people who didnt vote for him are raciest.

Curious to know what it will take for you to believe otherwise.

Gotta go, bye

Good grief. People throw around the term 'racism' like a ragdoll.

If a black person voted for Barack Obama simply because he was black, that doesn't automatically mean they are racist. Superficial, but not racist.

And you've got to be kidding yourself if there weren't plenty of people who didn't vote for Obama, simply because he is black. Racism? Some of it, sure.

Given the fact that 150 years ago, slavery was legal, and it took a Civil War to end it....and given the fact that many states have seriously talked of seceded from the U.S. after Obama was elected, you cannot simply dimiss the racism of the past as if it were not a factor in all of this nonsense from some of the extreme Right.

Like a ragdoll?, who Carter, Rev.Jackson? In a nutshell what he said was stupid and your trying to minimize it

Of course some people didnt vote for him because he was black but how many?, not all of them, not me. Majority of the people voted for him and lot of people didnt vote for him for other reasons than racism. Like I said racism does exist and always will but to what degree is the question

Your question goes both ways, yet you originally implied that the majority of voters who voted for Obama did so based on his race. Your implication is that there are more blacks who would superficially vote for a black man than there are Whites who wouldn't vote for Obama because of their own prejudices. These two factors are not exact mirrors of each other which is what you believe them to be. Black pride is not the same as White Pride....because you can't divorce the history of prejudice and opression that blacks have endured in this country. As much as the Righ Wing Talk Radio Celebrities try to make them out as equal.

I believe some people that didn't vote for him are racist, on a varying scale of what racism is- be it heavy dogmatic racism or be it that strange discomfort some white people get when all alone in an elevator with a black guy...

But not the majority, no.

What about the people who didnt for political reasons. I believe its a much more significant amout outside the majority.

A well dressed black man in a elevator is not going to scare me but dressed like a thug well yes I will be a little on edge and hell he doesnt have to be black. A fidgeting white meth addict is going to get the same reaction from as a thug looking black man. I dont believe that most people use color as a reason to be on edge.

Not sure how I implied that, I think your confusing me with something Sofiya said. That said most black are democratic to begin with so it was a win win situation for them. I think most people vote according to political beliefs rather than color.
