I can certainly say, as a Navy veteran who served back then... the happiest day of my career was when Carter was out, and the greatest president of all time, Ronald Regan, was in!

Jimmy Carter was an idiot then, and he's still an idiot now... enough said!

Humanitarianism didn't bring down the wall, my friend! A strong and powerful US military did!

That doesn't take away that Carter as a person has been a great Humanitarian - something that is very admirable. You could make the argument that humanitarians make bad presidents but then I'd argue against that as well. For the record, I believe that John Paul II, another great humanitarian, had more to do with the dismantling the USSR than any sabre rattling from Reagan...but that's another thread.
