What forms can I be getting ready?

Hiya!

We just sent off our first I-130 packet to the London Embassy last Friday, but looking ahead what forms can I be getting together for our next packet? I found plenty of stuff about the first packet but the second packet and so forth seems a bit sketchy.

I printed off the forms needed to get the police check but what else can I be doing?

Also, really worried about the I864 form. We are married for 5 years and live together with our 2 sons in England but are moving back to the US (fingers crossed). I work only part time as a self employed dog groomer. My husband is a self employed IT contractor and intends to carry on doing this once we are in the states. My family all live in the States. My mom would be our joint sponsor I think. She is retired but owns property and has stock. Where can I find information about the requirements for the I864 form?

Thanks!!!

Once your I-130 is approved your petition will go through NVC. take a look at the shortcuts to figure out what documents and you need (ie - police check). there are also instructions to the I-864.

Good luck.

Hmm... It sounds like this is actually DCF, so they wouldn't be dealing with NVC at all- they'll bring the I-864 to the interview. There's some information on DCF in the wiki and on the London embassy website. Check here: http://www.visajourney.com/wiki/index.php/...-130_Processing and here: http://london.usembassy.gov/cons_new/visa/iv/ivprocess.html

You can visit your GP and make sure you're up to date with all your shots and make sure you have original copies of all the required documents (birth, marriage, divorce, police certificates).

Also, there are pretty clear instructions for the I-864 in the form. When doing DCF, petitioners almost always use a joint sponsor or assets as their current job (or even a job offer in the US) doesn't count. The embassy will only consider income that will continue after your move. The petitioner still needs to fill out the I-864 and provide their tax returns, but the joint sponsor will have to do that as well as provide proof of income or assets. Keep in mind that when you do not live in the same household as the joint sponsor the incomes are not combined, so the joint sponsor alone will need to make enough to meet 125% of the poverty line for their entire household + the immigrant. Reread very carefully the instructions here: http://www.uscis.gov/files/form/I-864.pdf. They should give you a good idea of what you'll need to prepare.
