Hi guys,

I thought i'd post as i just got back to England. C and I have been lucky enough to travel around and spend EVERY DAY of the last year together. But finally we had to be apart to get this sorted. I thought i was going to go crazy the first day missing him and calling every half an hour (I LOVE SKYPE!) And then we had the worst three hours setting up our respective webcams while chatting on skype. As he has a Mac and me a PC (eerrrgggh) it just wasnt working but then we found ivisit. To link them together.

Hurray!!!, i saw him and the rush of feelings was immense. It lifted me out of the horrible place i had been in and made me sooo happy. I felt like we were together again.

Anyway, what im getting at....GET ONE!!!, it helps sooo much to see him moving, doing a dance, blowing a kiss. Its priceless!

Any one else have the same feeling of thankfulness to their webcam or am i just crazy??

No you aren't crazy at all. :D

My hubby and I were in a long distance relationship for 3 and a half years before we were finally able to be together, and I can honestly say that our webcam/mic made ALL the difference!

Thanks Sharon. I think that was a bit harsh shonjaved, I may be backwards with technology but i told you we havent been apart before now AND with the volume of posts on phone call prices on here clearly not everyone has the luxury

I am fortunate enough to have a SO who CAN afford high speed in her country. It is SO wonderful to see her everyday. There is a down side though. Instead of just wishing you could kiss this beautful woman that is speaking to you...you get to SEE all of the areas you would like to kiss. It is SO frustrating.

We used ours a lot during the first year and it was a blessing. Then we lived together for eight months, no need for them then. The last year plus, barely have them on because it just isn't the same and I really don't like seeing my husband on a flat piece of glass. Cameras seem more like a curse at the moment, just makes my heart ache. Much rather have the images of him during happier times in my mind. :(

Hell I live in the USA and still have dialup. It's all we can get up here where I am in the Blue Ridge Mountains. We don't even have DSL or cable :crying: Well, actually, we could get satellite internet but hell, we don't have 1500$ to shell out for installation and I honestly don't think it's worth all that money.

I do miss the hi-speed that I had back in Canada still tho, especially because I'm a photo nut....lol.

we used webcams while we were apart. it was great to see each other in real time instead of just sending updated photos now and then. every little bit helps. :)

*nods* Joel and I did the webcams for two years. It DOES make all the difference. However, I know it's hard in many places (areas that only have dialup) so I really feel for them. To be able to see him, blow kisses at him...see his eyes...it helped me get through the hard days. Thank the gods for webcams!!!!!!!!! :luv:

They were wonderful at first, but then the fact that you can look but not touch sets in, and the fact that they are 5K miles away and while it still makes it hard to breathe when I see him, there's more heartache than anything becuase it really brings it home how far apart you are, and how much you really do miss him.

Everything is sooo much better in person. A webcam is definitely no substitute.

Oh yes thank God for webcam. I can see my love and it makes us feel closer you know? We can see each other eatting, napping sometimes, or just watch our bugly faces in the morning when we just woke up :P

I just love it. If you both have computers you must have them.

Oo oo I am in the market for a web cam. Any advice on which has the most bang for my buck? Nessa, what kind did you buy down in Brazil?

We finally decided this would be a good idea...

PS cheesy thing an ex boyfriend in the States did with his web cam when I was living in Paris: he made a movie of himself kissing the web cam, then printed it out into like 20 small pages, and made a little flip-book kiss which he sent me to carry in my wallet.

The relationship didn't last, but we're still friends. How can you not stay friends with someone so dorky?
