Hey guys

When should I send away for the criminal background check. Should I wait until I get the next pkg from uscis? I'm sooo confused about what to do for the next step. Can someone clear it up for me? Thanks a million. I read the guides but I'm still confused

Yes, you can go ahead and get your police check done now. I don't know which part of Canada you are from, but we went to the local RCMP detachment in B.C. and got our police checks done while we waited for about $35.00.

Don't they need to see proof of an noa2 or something? I live in a small town with a local police department do i go there or are there forms I can send away for?

I don't think they need proof of anything other than you are who you say you are , all you have to do is request a police background check and pay the fee. I am not sure how it works there, but my fiance got his a while back, he had to get one from London because he lived there most of his life, then he had to get one from South Korea because he now resides there. They are both good for one year. You may want to call your local police office and ask them how to go about getting it, or maybe check to see if there is a website for your local police authority.

Also, your fiance needs to be getting all of his documents ready to send to you, if he has not already done so. All of the originals needed for the interview. Once your case has gone through the NVC, and on to the Consulate you will receive packet three. Then you will have to get ready for your medical and such. I hope this helps, I am in the process of doing all this stuff too......

You don't need to wait for you NAO2.

The best thing to do is find a RCMP near you and request a police certificate. You will need a police certificate for each province that you have lived in for more than 6 months since the age of 16. Each certificate is only province wide... NOT CANADA WIDE. You should do this now as it can take 4-8 weeks for it to be processed.

I'm curious where you got that information from. I got a Canada-wide name-check done by the RCMP in Jasper, AB (for free, within about two minutes) while I was working there this summer.

my 2 sons and myself went about 2 months ago, all we brought was our birth certs and another picture id...paid 25.00 each....and it was done in 20 mins. we are about 40 km from montreal. she told me it was good for a year....good luck

I also live in a smalltown (northern). If your local police can do a CPIC search you can use them. All I needed was picture ID and $20. I picked it up the day after I called them. It's good for a year.
