Damaging, indeed.....I had to walk away from this thread and go scrub my floor....only to find myself thinking about my own sufferings from past beatings..... I'm still sobbing. Not saying it's your fault, Boo..but dang!

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

How can anyone refuse to accept the reality that even in 2009 African Americans, as a percentage, are more violent that any other ethnicity in America. Am I lying about that? Am I making this up? If so fine, then prove me wrong. People need to stop trying to shot the messenger and just accept reality. This denial is why America is crime ridden, while in comparison there is not one single no-go zone in Australian cities. In cities that are much large and more diverse than most US cities.

It great an all that we like to think we're all equal and think the same but that is not reality. By you guys denying this, the problem only continues.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

BY, you just can't shut up can you?

No one has condoned the bus beating in this thread. Not one person. But you had to b1tch about something. Still no one condoned it. Then off you go on a famous tangent and say "you need to go get a beating...." and people tell you "dude, that's crossing the line" (aside the mention by a mod that indeed, at least me and Nagi have been there done that), and shazam, you have to keep at it once more. Nagi comes in and posts you how your comments are making her remember her own abuse history -and dude, it is not fvcking funny or cultural- and you just have to open it up once more and bring up your argument.

You praise yourself in a good upbringing by loving parents. Show it. Have the prudence to shut up every now and then -- it is not a sign of weakness.

Dear Lord has anyone mentioned the term poverty in this thread or are we out to make ridiculous causation arguments again??

Funny how other poor Americans don't result to this behavior. Sorry dude but this is a cultural and attitude problem that is endorsed and protected in America. It's is also why the thuggery gansta attitude is frowned upon overseas.

Excuse me? You're telling someone they should go get beaten because they think you're pulling one outta yer azz?

No I am telling someone they should put themselves on the receiving end and be the victim for a change, before basically excusing this sort of behavior.

This sort of neanderthal behavior is not acceptable in any other developed country. As such, would have been nipped in the butt a long time ago. Same way white kids have a problem with going crazy and shooting up schools in America, African American kids have a problem with violence. Sorry but it is what it is. I also have FBI facts proving this point.

If I had done the same, my parents would have dragged me by the ear to the kid's parents house and had me apologize to the kid; if not thrown me out of the house.

Seriously, BY... have you ever really been to these places where violence occurs? I do much more than simply fly through in my car...

Hint- its not the racial issue you're trying to make it look like on its own. Its economic- defined as population density mainly. You should know this.

Wishing you ten-fold that which you wish upon all others.

I am not disagreeing but what about the other poor in America. Why is it they don't need to resort to violence?

This has absolutely nothing to do with race but everything to do with culture and attitude. African Americans now represent one of the largest demographic of single parents households, particularly amongst teenage parents. This is bound to cause issues and it clearly has.

This is no different to the number of white American kids who end up shooting up schools. Something is going on in their homes and upbringing that allows them to behave like that.

Because with higher population density = higher probability of violence under the 'realm' of poverty. This naturally includes the all-of-the-above combo (lack of education, lack of financial resources, lack of positive role models, abundance of negative role models). Place poor white, green, yellow, brown, red, blue, gold, transparent, and opaque folks under identical historical, economical, and social conditions and you'll see the same exact pattern of violence.

That justifies the cities but what about the suburban areas. The United states is not exactly a country where the majority of people live in metropolitan areas you know; like Australia that is. Furthermore, I grew up in a situation like that; inner city and certainly without a golden spoon up my ####. Like many other immigrants, my parents migrated to the country with no comprehension of the language or culture, and with $10 to their name. How is it we did not resort to violence or gang banging? instead we went to college.

Another point. You want to know the background of the best behaved kids in my street? African American parents. Why? because they're on their back 24/7. They use old school big mama style parenting. I constantly commend them for their excellent parenting skills. Kids are well mannered, friendly and courteous. Worst douche bag kids, yep white kids. Why because their parents just buy them ####### and let them do whatever they want. Whenever one of them is injured doing something stupid, you just here them laugh like clowns.

While this is a micro example, it does show the difference in parenting and attitude.

Anyways, it's silly that kids are chauffeured to school here. Never had such a thing in Aus. Instead, the money actually goes into schools and buys books. Amazing concept hey.

I also think there needs to be a one strike you're out policy. Bullies or trouble makers are never going to amount to anything, therefore, the key is to get them out of a normal setting and put them into specialized schools; where psychologist teach them to behave like normal civilized human beings. They should also take them on tour of the local prisons so they learn what it's like to be thrown in jail for a good 10 to 20 years.

They don't have enough money for the regular schools, BY.

And they already have programmes for disruptive pupils.

A kid like that should immediately be expelled. Furthermore, he should face criminal charges for assault. Now, I would not throw him in jail but I would put him on a good behavior bond and also put him into a 'special school'. Teach him the basics of behaving in a normal civilized manner, as well as the consequences of not doing so; clearly something he has not had at home.

It also about time we start holding parent's accountable for their child behavior. Parents seem to be the first to complain about the treatment of their child but the last to be held accountable for their child. Teachers don't get paid enough to put up with bad parenting or lack of.

You want to see an example of parenting or the lack of. Better yet the difference in generation. Here:

The school suspended the two attackers for 10 days today, pending an expulsion hearing, and suspended three bystanders for five days for laughing at the incident, D'Vante and his mother said the principal told them.

D'Vante's mother, Shenico Greer, was very upset outside Belleville West this afternoon, as she picked up her son.

"He was not in the fight!" Greer said.

"Everybody on that bus, mostly, was laughing and standing up," she said.

Something you would never ever have heard from a parent of my generation. Heck, I still remember our high school's trouble maker having to go to another kid's house and apologize because he decided to damage a kid's house. His father had him there and was apologizing to the parent. I later found out the perpetrator was crying because he did not want to the police involved; something his own dad was pushing for so that he learns a lesson.

Fast forward to 2009 and the above response is oh so typical. "(insert attitude)well my child ...bla bla bla... nothing wrong... bla bla bla". I see it in pretty much every single news story I read involving kids.

There's a lot of things that *should* be done, but there are real reason why they haven't been done.

Schools have more pressing issues that this to deal with.

As I said, time accountable is returned to the parent. After all, the apple does not fall far from the tree. Neither another kid nor a teacher should have to put up with this #######.

I'm in my early 30's BY. This stuff happened in my generation, at my school.

You keep trying to paint this picture that the world of today is so much worse than it used to be, but it just isn't the case.

Bullying and fighting didn't suddenly appear over the last 1/4 - 1/2 century!

There's a lot of things that *should* be done, but there are real reason why they haven't been done.

They shouldn't, but again noone said that life is fair.

Frequently, it isn't.
