I don't think this is really anything extraordinary ... except that these kids were doing this knowing a camera was rolling.

This was normal when I went to school except not on the bus... almost always after the bus pulled away.

I went to a pretty good school (as public schools go).

This is were I do agree with some.

Home schoolers and even private schooled kids miss out on the reality of "socialization".

If I was home schooled or private schooled, I am sure my outlook would be a little more idealistic.

The reason you don't see more of this on camera is because most often the kid that got beat-up would have just "avoided" the confrontation by moving to another seat as he was told too.

Why should that be the case? No other kid should have the right to intimidate anyone going to school. If you want to act like a thug, you should be treated like one. Beginning with being expelled from school and banned from riding any tax payer funded bus. This sort of ###### goes on in America because you guys allow it.

According to the Internal Revenue Service, the 400 richest American households earned a total of $US138 billion, up from $US105 billion a year earlier. That's an average of $US345 million each, on which they paid a tax rate of just 16.6 per cent.

 How is almaty's comment on the state of affairs in said city justifying anything? You just love to pick fights, mate.

Good to see you guys actually discuss the incident.

I am not picking fights. I just get mad when people let their own bias get in the way of accepting and addressing issues in America. Particularly people who use historical events to excuse unacceptable neanderthal, third world like behavior, in 2009.

And again... how did Dean's post apply to any of the bolded parts?

Kids beating on kids is fvcked up. Racial profiling is fvcked up. One way or the other.

So is ignoring the reality that violence and minorities go hand in hand. Hence the ridiculously low crime rates in states where less than 1% of the population is a minority. The only reason this problem does not improve is that any attempt to deal with the issue automatically results in stereotyping, profiling or better yet racist allegations. The only way around it is for people to move into upscale neighborhoods where a certain demographic does not exist.

Much like rape is acceptable in certain cultures over others, so is violence. Something the president has discussed himself. Maybe you need to be beaten up like that and then come back and tell us how you still refuse to stereotype. If you still feel that way after that, I will totally change my stance on this.

I think I can speak for Len. We both have been victims of severe beatings by the persons we loved and trusted, and in my case from someone of a different race and culture. An azz whoppin' is an azz whoppin' regardless of who did the whoppin'.

Don't just open your mouth and prove yourself a fool....put it in writing.

It gets harder the more you know. Because the more you find out, the uglier everything seems.

Dear Lord has anyone mentioned the term poverty in this thread or are we out to make ridiculous causation arguments again??

Funny how other poor Americans don't result to this behavior. Sorry dude but this is a cultural and attitude problem that is endorsed and protected in America. It's is also why the thuggery gansta attitude is frowned upon overseas.

Excuse me? You're telling someone they should go get beaten because they think you're pulling one outta yer azz?

No I am telling someone they should put themselves on the receiving end and be the victim for a change, before basically excusing this sort of behavior.

This sort of neanderthal behavior is not acceptable in any other developed country. As such, would have been nipped in the butt a long time ago. Same way white kids have a problem with going crazy and shooting up schools in America, African American kids have a problem with violence. Sorry but it is what it is. I also have FBI facts proving this point.

If I had done the same, my parents would have dragged me by the ear to the kid's parents house and had me apologize to the kid; if not thrown me out of the house.

Maybe you should learn about a person before saying something so ignorant as you did.

Suggesting that being beaten up is not an acceptable comment under any circumstances. Its inappropriateness is highlighted by the fact that the person at whom this comment was aimed has already experienced such violence. An apology for making this insensitive comment would be the appropriate response at this time.

“...Isn't it splendid to think of all the things there are to find out about? It just makes me feel glad to be alive--it's such an interesting world. It wouldn't be half so interesting if we knew all about everything, would it? There'd be no scope for imagination then, would there?”

No one excused the behavior. But of course you had to show all the glory of your sensitivity and say something without thinking. Give reading comprehension a try. Seriously, #######.

Well I have no way of knowing that. So I cannot apologize for something I knew nothing about. That was also not a personal jab at the poster but a generic comment.

My comment still stands that many of those who protect this sort of behavior have not been a victim of it. Such crude neanderthal behavior is not tolerated in any developed country.

My comment also stands that African American represent more than their fair share in violence compared to people of other ethnicities. More so, even more than people actually born in Africa that have migrated here. As such, there is clearly a cultural / attitude issue with certain communities here.

At least you didn't threaten to beat them up like you usually do.

Had the victim been black and the perpetrator been white, many of you here would be crying murder. That is reality and I have a good eight threads I can recall as evidence to illustrate this.
