Beating on school bus upsets parents

Nobody expects the driver to blow them or shine the shoes of the passengers.. but there is social responsibility and a duty beyond operating the bus. Or do you feel the driver has no responsibility other than to drive the bus? If it were a group of students raping a young girl... Not my job man.. I just drive the bus?

Well they are 16. If they had pulled this stunt off on a street corner, they would have been charged with assault and sent to juvi.

Fact is, that the bus driver cannot touch the teens period. Furthermore, what if they turned on him? or would that too just be part of his job.

This is just more proof that if you live in loserville, you have little chance of receiving a decent education.

These kids parents should be charged on the grounds of raising neanderthal knuckle dragging kids. Aka morons.

Watch the vid and from the point of time that the fighting starts, pretend you are driving that bus and tell me how long it would take you to A. Realize this is more than the usual "school bus BS" and B. to then find a place to pull over.

Also, you are watching the vid, the driver is watching the road and at best has a mirror to glance and see what is going on, still I am surprised we did not hear a peep from the driver.

Also an Airline Pilot is a professional, school bus drivers are often 8-10 an hour workers, in fact in many parts of the country, High school kids drive the buses.

What we have here are behavior problems no bus driver or school is equipped to handle.

Not only have we successfully dumbed-down the education standards to the lowest common denom, we have done the same thing for behavior standards as well.

Even so this does afford some level of education which is why I suggest all parents send their kids to at least a few years of Public education.

The experience of this diversity will last a lifetime.

The black kid who beat the white kid should go to jail, plain & simple. Charge his sorry #### with everything from assault to disorderly conduct. There is absolutely no excuse for his behavior. As for the bus driver he had a duty to at least report the incident, if not stop it.

The color of the kids has no bearing on it.. The @sshole that beat the kid up and the other @sshole that suckerded him afterwards both need to be sent to jail for quite some time.. there was at least 1 white kid egging it on....so race shouldnt factor into it..

It would be very difficult to prove in court that race was a factor, but in reality it was IMO. I get your point that the unprovoked assault is the issue & I agree with you, but at the same time the fact that one kid was black & one was white (could have been a white kid punching a black kid) is part of the equation.

Anyone with an IQ over 50 that has not been in a comma for the past 15 years would realize that had the victim been black, Jesse Jackson and co would be demanding their death.

Race would not matter period. Only a video showing two white kids taking turns (a few minutes apart) to bash this "poor innocent black kid" would period. Heck kids hang a noose and Jesse cries murder.

I would. However I get angry when I see responsibility pushed aside and someone else scapegoated. When I see people come on and scorn the driver but say three words about the knuckle dragging 16 year olds.

The kid (actually two since a 2nd kid got involved later) is at fault, no question about it. However what many have argued is that the bus driver should have done something... maybe try to break up the fight verbally or if that didn't work call 911. I believe you made a point earlier about the bus driver not having the authority to intervene physically & that may or may not be the case... in the Army we have ROE (Rules of Engagement) and if they don't tell the bus drivers what they can and cannot do they should.

BY I am well aware that kids fight in schools.

I am also well aware that bullying, racism and bigotry of all kinds factor into this (and that was certainly consistent with my experience in High School).

Public High Schools aren't monasteries BY where iron discipline is enforced by the liberal use of corporal punishment.

Quite simply, its the reality of how things are - it isn't a commentary on wider society, however much you have a stick up your ####### about those unruly minorities.

This wasn't a fight... it was a beating (the white kid did nothing to provoke the fight or fight back). I got in lots of fights in school but I never sucker punched some poor ####### for sitting next to me.
