NVC shipped case to Montreal instead of Vancouver

Hi there,

Our K1 case was shipped on September 10th to the Montreal Consulate by mistake. I'm not sure why NVC did that, when we clearly indicated that Vancouver was the nearest consulate (I live in BC).

I called DOS this morning and they confirmed that it is on it's way to Montreal, still hasn't arrived.

If there's any advice on how to get it re-routed to Vancouver, that would be appreciated. I've already emailed the Montreal consulate and provided them our Case# to have it shipped to Vancouver. I believe Montreal does not take phone calls. Does anyone know how to contact Montreal live? I also emailed the Vancouver Consulate, letting them know the situation.

Is there anything else that I should do?? Has this happened to anyone?

Thanks!!

Yes, I contacted NVC this morning and they said that currently DHL has the package and that I should just wait until Montreal receives it. Then I called DOS, and they said Montreal still hasn't received it and confirmed that it is enroute to Montreal. I hope that it's easy enough for Montreal to send it to Vancouver and doesn't get lost in transaction. Vancouver in the meantime, has emailed back and said that there is nothing that they can do, until they've received our package from Montreal.

Thanks! I'm hoping that everything works out.

Hi liz and welcome to the Canada forum :)

It has happened before, I don't remember the details but it always gets sorted out, so not to worry.

There is no way to call and speak with someone at the Montreal Consulate, however emailing both consulates is a good first move.

I would wait to hear from Montreal and keep in mind that it can take a few days for them to reply. I don't think you really want your file sent back to NVC, it may prolong getting it sent to Vancouver. There is a person here - Beans, who had this happen, but I don't remember if the consulates handled it or it got sent back to NVC and re-routed.

I believe you can call Vancouver at 604-685-4311 - perhaps someone can confirm this.

Edited after I saw your last post.

Thanks Trailmix!! It helps to hear that this has happened before and eventually works out :)

I will try calling the Vancouver Consulate and see if I can speak to someone. I agree with you on not wanting our file sent back to NVC. I'm hoping that the consulates can sort this out.

Do you know how long it takes for your file to reach Montreal from NVC. Our file left on Sept 10th and according to DOS, it still hasn't arrived?- Thanks!

You're welcome! There are a lot of k1ers in the forum here and i'm sure one of them will be able to tell you what the transit time currently is.
