Contacting USCIS about NOA1....

Hey everyone...

Not to be impatient, but at what point should the USCIS Chicago Office be contacted regarding the NOA1. I notice I seem to be falling behind others, as the NOA1 for K3 has seemed to be going out quickly from the little I have seen.

6/27/06 - Confirmed receipt of Application by Chicago

7/13/06 - No NOA1 yet and no check cashed

PS... If I decide to call, what is the best method to contact Chicago and how?

If you contact USCIS by phone there are two steps. In first step u can only speak to a rep. who has only info that we can already see online, so all they gonna tell u is what u already know. However, there are some situations in which they will transfer u to an immgration officer. Not recieving NOA1 for 30 days after mailing application is one of the situations. When u call USCIS dont wait to listen to all the recordings if u have already listened to it before. after dialing the 800 number, press 1,2,1 to get transfered to a rep. fast.

I called today cuz, I had two NOA1s, and none of the reciept numbers had online status. Today, after 80 minutes of hold I was transfered to an immigration officer, who said the reciept number on 2nd NOA1 is correct and that it will take upto 60 days to see it online and that it may take upto 4 months to process. But she told me about 4 months just by looking at march 05 date. So lets just wait and pray for easy home-coming for every one's family.

What is the 800 number to call and find out? Is there a specific number to call the chicago office? I sent the 129 F for my spouse on june 24 2006 and i have noticed on the time lines that other people that filed after me have already received the 1NOA....i guess seing that put me in panic mode.

Well, not that I am happy for you, but it is nice to hear I am not alone in delayed responses on here! I'm not personally in panic mode, but I would like to just get confirmation with a date and a piece of paper in hand so I can go about my business knowing the process has begun!

Chicago is only the lockbox where I-129F petitions for spouse are mailed. They are then forwarded to the NBC in Missouri. All enquires regarding your petition should be directed to the USCIS NCSC number (800) 375-5283. There is no direct number to the NBC or any of the service centers. They are all handled by the NCSC which is a call center.

Looks like we filed almost at the same time. we both sent our I 129 F to the Chicago lock bock. I will call today to see if they can give me any update as to why we have not gotten NOA1. Most people seem to be getting it in 9 days so that really makes me wonder what happened to mine. I hope it did not get lost. Pray they give us good news. I will let you know what they say, as Im sure what they tell me will apply to you as in regards to the wait for the NOA1 since we both sent it2 days apart.

So I called and the first time like an idiot I was given the wrong information they told me that the NOA1 was sent out june 15 Ijumped for joy and when i entered the recipt number on the uscis website I realized that it was for the I130. AGGGGGGG so then I call back and got put on hold for another 45 min and then I got some rude women. I was trying to be as nice as possible. I didnt want to piss her off....I was scared she could get my papers and put then at the end or something. Im so scared. I told her I know a few people who got their NOA1 with in a few days. Some even nine.....and mine has been 4 weeks now and I dont even know if you have recived it and just want to check up on that. She said that 4 weeks is nothing that it could take up to 90 days. the with he way of talking down to me she just tried to make me feel stupid with a few other comments she made.l all i could say was yes mam yes mam i wanted to say other thngs but i did not want to piss her off. I just bit my lip and now im venting. Do the the people that we talk on on the 800 uscis number have the power to mess up your application if they get annoyzed by us calling and them not warming up to us?

Yet another reason I question why I even bothered spending the $170 to send off a K3 in the middle of all this BS....

Thanks for the info though, I almost dont even care anymore and just hope for reasonable processing of the I-130!!!!

Oh thats great news! At least you know they have your application. Bloop....now im more upset I wont even know whats the deal with mine because I got a postal money order. my lawyer told me to send money orders. i dont have a way to trace that and if i request one it takes 60 days for them to respond. now i know next time i will always send a check. Maybe you can ask around here what was the time frame after their check was chased to get the 1NOA. It least you have a ray of light. I hope mine is along with yours getting processed. Please keep me updated on here and I will do the same.
