One day a couple months ago I was in a store, which was playing a Matisyahu music video. I only heard the music at first, then after a few mins saw the video and was very surprised to see who was the singer. But a good surprise, like seeing something unexpected and then thinking "cool!" because it's so different than you'd expect.

Incase someone doesn't know who I am talking about:

Just wondered if anyone else liked his music. I know it could be a small amt of ppl because first of all you have to like this style of music, and secondly I know some of his songs are religious based and some people don't like that kind of thing. I like his lyrics and I think it's really cool for him to be so overt singing about God and still is getting popular.

I am just hearing a little more of him, and I think I want to buy his CD. I like it!

Anyone else?

I heard that guy a few years ago, but I think now he has gotten a bit more polished! It's hilarious, though, to find out that he was not born a chasidic Jew, but rather a reform Jew in (I think) Colorado and made that choice later, to move to Brooklyn and become a superjew. :)

He is a lot of fun to listen to though. Now if he could just learn to sing on key...

Don't know why....but my favorite line from that song is:

"If you're drowning in the water and you can't stay afloat ask ???? for mercy, he'll throw you a rope"

yes that line is good!

I also love near the end, when he 'breaks it down' :P and says

"Said I lift up mine eyes

where mine help come from,

and I seen it circling on down

from the mountain.

Thunder, ya feel it in your chest,

Ya keep my mind at ease

and my soul at rest and not vexed. ...."

That whole part.

Yes....another good part I agree. I especially like how the music and tempo changes in that moment.

Also,

"If you're trying to stay high, you're bound to stay low. You want God but you can't deflate your ego" Now that's good!

I like this song also because he says things like "my god" and "I give myself to you from the essence of my being". That's cool for me because it illustrates how religion for him is a personal experience. He's not pushing anything on anyone, but just lyrically expressing how it affects him and his life. I wish more people held that kind of belief....the world would be a better place.

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).
