Hello People,

I am new to this site, but have noticed many times the mention of "Touched"

I have not seen anywhere that this is mentioned in INS, NVC or DOS Sites Can anyone PLEASE Explain this to me, I know we can all have a quick laugh and say we will feel "Touched" in the head before finishing this process, but It would be nice to hear some explaination of the use of the term and where everyone has been finding this.

Thanks

Henry

Do you have an account with the USCIS website? If you do, when you see your case online, the date will change in the 'last updated' field, but the status of your case will not change. This is called a touch. A touch is usually someone 'looking' at your case, or 'handling it' which could mean moving it to someone else's desk ... or who knows :) Something like that!

If that doesn't make sense, use the search function and type in 'touched' :) This topic comes up alot and I am sure you will find a thread on here explaining it better.

03/10/09 - Recieved Olga's NOA1

05/11/09 - Anya recieved NOA1 (took a call to USCIS to take care of it, oddly, they were helpful)

When one sends their petition into the service centre and get their NOA1 they get their case number - once they get that they can log into the USCIS site and see the status of their case https://egov.immigration.gov/cris/jsps/index.jsp if the date changes that means they have touched your file.

The term "touched" is used when the status date changes on your case status online. It usually means someone at USCIS has done something to your case, or has looked at it. You don't always get an email when you are touched though, you only get an email if the actual status of the case changes. They can touch you case all the time without the status of the case changing, just the .

status date changes, meaning someone has been looking at it or doing something with in. Hope this helps
