After the I-130 is approved are immigrants required to file the I-485 form within a certain time period to apply for legal permanent residence?

Thanks,

Peter

depends on who it is that is immigrating and where they are now.

Are they already in the USA?

Who is it? wife, husband, child, adult child, parent or other?

It's my wife's parents who are now in China.

Thanks,

Peter

Once the I-130 has been approved it will go to the NVC click here for info about NVC from there it goes to the Embassy/Consulate where the parents will attend an interview and once approved they will get a IR5 visa to come to the US on.

They do not need to file I-485 Adjustment of status because they will get a 10 years greencard once they enter the USA with their IR5 visa.
