Some things are better left to the imagination - just like the book is usually so much better than the movie.

You betcha. ;)

Besides it was funnnnnnnnnnnnnn. If we were able to have both computers online at the same time here, I might even go log onto the one in the back room and message my hubby while he's on the one in the family room hahaha

Just for old time's sake.

We have a saying here in brazil that says something like: "You know you're with a friend when a moment of silence doesn't make you feel awkward".

Anyway...... it's just a saying and it might not be true. hehe But I don't know...... Dave and I have been together for more than 3 years and there hasn't been one single day that we haven't talked to each other for at least 6 hours a day.... and we still find a lot of sutff to talk about.

I asked him what he thought about it and he's what he said:

"You have to find a way to make a seemless transition from everyday separate activities into activities within the relationship, basically just find a way to relate things to your partner in a way that he'll understand and be interested in."

There's always something to talk about........ if nothing important, then silly things it is! :P

Good luck :star:

It's so much easier to talk with him when we're both awake. Often he'll call when he's dead tired from working all day and night, and he's basically just got nothing to say then. Once he's awake during the day though, it's so easy to just have a normal conversation.

It'll be a lot easier when we're both in the same place. That way, we can actually be there when we've got things to say and when we're out of things, it'll be ok to just say nothing becuase we wont be wasting money on long distance phone calls just to listen to each other breathe.

We have also had this problem, I have found that if you have a heart to heart talk with your fiance about the distance and the fact that the distance is what is causing the strain and the the distance is what is causing the lack of conversation, this should help alot. Then, don't bring up the fact that you don't have anything to talk about anymore, just go with the flow. If you don't have much to talk about one day, so what, you probably will the next. Don't be so hard on yourselves, look at what you are trying to accomplish and what you will have accomplished once this process is finished.
 Agree, realize it is the distance discuss that and head off to do something different, rather than sit there with nothing to say. Sometimes I read him magazine articles, or local news whatever to get a topic going. A year and a half of this, I will tell you there are many times we sit in silence doing something else, it is just the idea he is on the other end makes me content. Often times I fall back on VJ since he doesn't come here, it gives us new topics to discuss.

You know, I tried the whole "I don't care what we talk about as long as you're on the other end, that itself makes me feel good" but sometimes it brings more silence. :( It's just so much harder now since we have been together in person.

yes I agree. We would spend a fair amount of time not necessarily saying anything to each other, just having the phone to our ears. We would watch tv, cook dinner, eat dinner etc all while on the phone and just chip something in when we had something to say. Like you would in person, but just on the phone! It felt nice, like we were together in person almost.

If you TRY to find things to say, thats when it just gets awkward. Just roll with it.

Mandi, I imagine it does make it more difficult once you have actually been together in person though. Maybe take a few days where you dont speak to each other at all. Take the pressure off a bit.

Best of luck to you, and chin up!

You know...I'm trying to think about times when we have less to say then others. It doesn't happen too often. We both have very active lives outside of each other so many of our conversations are..."I wish you had been here at this event with me when..." But just like in real life sometimes you don't WANT to talk. You just want to feel. For example when I read my books or magazines in the evenings or in the morning I REALLY wish she was there. Not to talk, but just to be there. Which actually brings up another thing we do. We are constantly swaping internet articles and talking about them. Anyways...I'm rambling...

MAybe it's just me, but Stewart and I never run out of things to talk about...Maybe it's cause I talk endlessly and he doesn't have to do any talking :) ha.

I don't think you can rely on others to tell what to talk about...or else it's like you've got a script.

Yeah, I don't like the scripted idea either, just wanted some advice.

we talk about chit on VJ.. lol

and we talk about the future. we dont run out of anything to say.

least I dont.

yes shon and i always talk about chit... OH CHIT! hahahhahaha! ooooh shon you meant S/o! sorry! hahaha HUGGS

to answer the other question you dont HAAAAAAAAAAAAVEEEEEEEEE to talk everyday you know? go get something to do, like a past time and then the next time you talk then you can talk about the new hobby that you have acquired... :)

and if you Really must talk to your S/O everyday just ask how their day went, and if you cant think of anything else to ask then end the conversation at that... id rather hang up in good terms than get into stupid fights over nothing to begin with...but then again thats just me...

We have to talk everyday. Ryan can't go a day without talking to me, and vice versa.

It's so much easier to talk with him when we're both awake. Often he'll call when he's dead tired from working all day and night, and he's basically just got nothing to say then. Once he's awake during the day though, it's so easy to just have a normal conversation.

We talk twice a day, we both work 2p-10p shifts, but different time zones. I talk to him early my morning, when he is rushing off to work and I'm dead tired, then again when I'm rushing off to work when he's dead tired.

It does, but we can't live without talking to each other everyday. Sometimes the net is down and we cant call, or sms don't go through which really frustrates us both because we don't get to talk.

This IS one of the issues Katya and I have too. We try to set aside Saturday and/or Sunday (my) morning to talk. This way we both are not just dead tired and we can have true quality conversation. It is SO nice to be able to chat without one of us having to rush off to someplace.

Well, I rarely get the weekends off. Ryan was, but now the only day he gets off a week is Sunday. Sometimes I get weekends off, but with my job, people are working 'round the clock, so EVERYONE wants the weekend off. Unfortunately, only some get it. But we both have sunday off this weekend. Both of us working 6 days a week, it's hard to get time together. :(
