Funny quote, but I don't think I know where that ones from.

Jamie that is hilarious. Not the actual fleas, but your reaction to them.

It came from 8 Crazy nights... so hear that in your head said with a Jewish Gramma voice :)

Hi everyone. Sorry to barge into your thread; I'm waiting for my NOA2 and it seems that all I can do is just read every single update that's posted in the K1 forums... so yeah...

LEE: One of my college friends got married in September and they had the sand thing in their ceremony. It's meant to be in place of the Unity candle, I think. The idea is that you each have a vial of sand a different color for each of you, and then you pour them together into another vessel. It's meant to represent the fact that now your lives are entwined by marriage. To separate the newly married couple would be as difficult as going through the thing of sand and separating out the two colors. Or something like that. Good luck with the planning!

You are welcome here anythime. Most of the people here have already been reunited with their loved ones. I am one of the few still waiting.

Thanks for the answer on the sand thing. To a man such as myself both the unity candle and the sand seem silly. Whatever as I have told Oksana I am more interested in having a good marriage than an amazing wedding day. I will defer to her judgement on these issues.

Yeah, I'm with you on the silliness factor, and I'm a female... When my sweetie gets here we're going to opt for the ol' $35 courthouse wedding ceremony. Someday, when we've had a chance to save and plan properly, we'll have some sort of "commitment ceremony" for our family and friends (none of them live in the state) which, being the female, it will likely fall to me to plan. I'm thinking outside, wildflowers, and a big ol' barbecue for the reception. Simple and easy....

I hope you and Oksana get what you want out of the ceremony, and even more so, I hope you have a long and happy marriage! :)

"Unity Heart of Sand Ceremony"

with our Original "Unity Heart of Glass"

As a symbol of "Unity" the couple is asked to take a hand of sand from beneath them and as they put it into the

"Unity Heart of Glass/ Unity Heart of Sand" at the same time, they repeat a verse together.

I copied and pasted the best example I could find. It sounds like lunacy to me.

 I have NEVER heard of that! lunacy indeed!

Hugs, Liz

Welcome Megger! Like the others have said...your welcome here anytime! :star:

And I love your way of thinking...outside, wildflowers and bbq were what my husband and I had wanted originally but with us not able to have the wedding until November and with how unpredictible the weather is here in Texas at that time of the year, we decided we better come up with a different plan! Our wedding was still a small, intimate affair so it worked out perfectly!

AMEN!

Hmmm...what, don't you love me anymore, Richard? :crying::devil:

Hugs, Liz

Wow the sand thing sounds like a nice symbolism but I don't like the big hoity toity aspect of it and that would mean I'd have to invite more than just a few family members to the wedding hehe.

I know it will Jamie. Igor, you and me are the last of the Feb family to do so. Just remember that you always save the best for last.

I am only doing one wedding and I have to accommodate around 40 people. I don't like wearing a suit/tux and do so only as needed. I live in sunny florida so more than likely it will be outside. I will put aside all of my sensibilities and will be over the top sickeningly sugary sweet on that day. With that said I need to go work on my vows that I will be speaking in Russian for her. If that's not sweet enough than I don't know what I am doing at this point.

Aww that is sweet!! I'm sure she'll love that you're doing the whole wedding deal for her! I'm not to keen on a giant wedding just because I don't like the idea of the most emotional moment of my life (marrying) to be put on stage! Oh but I sure can't wait to marry Lampros! :D:luv::D

Best for last.. I think that sounds quite right!

I love your sarcasm, it's lovely!
