i need to ask this ... is it important to get 2 way ticket if i am going to USA with tourist visa ??

or its ok to get one way ticket ??

Are you planning on returning to your home country????

If the answer is yes, then you are going to need a flight ticket to get you home. If the answer is NO then you will need a visa to enter the US other than a tourist visa.

man ... i wish i can understand why there is some guys such as u trying to make them self a police man and trying to protect the countries from the illegals immigrations .... any way ... yes i am planing to go home ... but ... i am ship captain ... and i have contract to work on the ship ... so i can get free ticket from where ever i am to the where ever the ship was ...

so i don't want to buy ticket to go to the airport in my country so there i will take another plane to go to the ship ...

so if i buy one way ticket i will save like 1000$ and i will leave from us using the ticket from my job ...

There is no need to be rude, kofo. TayRivers was not trying to "police" you. She was trying to obtain clarification. It is always helpful to provide thorough information when asking a question so that you may receive a more productive response.

No one can give you a definitive yes or no response. It is always up to the POE officer to determine whether you have sufficient ties to trust that you abide by the terms of your visa or not. It is up to you to provide those ties and prove you are not trying to be a de facto resident.

I know with the VWP they usually ask to see a return ticket, I would think it is the same when entering the USA on a tourist visa. However, if you can get some sort of letter from your company on official letterhead, confirming that they'll fly you out around X date, that may be sufficient.

Participants of the Visa Waiver Program need a round trip ticket. Although it's not specifically spelled out for B1/B2 visas, the IO at the POE might ask for it, or might ask "when are you flying back." A good, plausible answer would help, but ultimately it's within the discretion of the officer.

On another note: isn't the cost for a round trip ticket almost identical?

There is no room in this country for hyphenated Americanism. When I refer to hyphenated Americans, I do not refer to naturalized Americans. Some of the very best Americans I have ever known were naturalized Americans, Americans born abroad. But a hyphenated American is not an American at all . . . . The one absolutely certain way of bringing this nation to ruin, of preventing all possibility of its continuing to be a nation at all, would be to permit it to become a tangle of squabbling nationalities, an intricate knot of German-Americans, Irish-Americans, English-Americans, French-Americans, Scandinavian-Americans or Italian-Americans, each preserving its separate nationality, each at heart feeling more sympathy with Europeans of that nationality, than with the other citizens of the American Republic . . . . There is no such thing as a hyphenated American who is a good American. The only man who is a good American is the man who is an American and nothing else.

Get a "C" transit visa. You don't want a tourist visa. There are specific provisions to allow ship's crew to use the "C" visa to transit to or from their ships.
